yes, I generally wait until someone reports success, unless it really looks like the fix is 'in the bag'. Sometimes I'll list it as (Unconfirmed) until someone says it's good, but this one looks like it's a work-in-progress.

Unfortunately the overnight automatic update was incomplete again despite the patch. From the logs it appears that there was simply very little EPG data emitted by my provider. I will now change automatic EPG update time to daytime hour to see if it will be any better.
The patch might be useful anyway to avoid several copies of the same show that often appeared in my EPG before.
I ran another automatic EPG update. This time I also fetched EPG using dvbguide.exe started from updateEPG.bat.
In NRecord.log I find for example:
Code:
Line 436: 2012-01-25 08:17:41.288 [DEBUG][11] - saving 4 listings for channel: POP TV
On the other hand dvbguide.exe fetched 146 shows for the same channel. This suggests that nrecord might be failing to fetch all available epg data. The capture time for dvbguide.exe was set to 25 seconds and for nrecord to 60 seconds.
FWIW, I am seeing the exact same problem. Very few shows are seen on each channel. A manual update fixes everything.
Is there a way to trigger an "automatic" EPG update manually, as opposed to the one from Settings or System?
The problem started with the upgrade to 2.3.6.

Systematically, but not always, the automatic update is incomplete on my system, while manual update seems more complete. Both updates run the same code but in different processes. Could this be an issue? Maybe different priorities?
I am using two identical tuners. Does the manual update use the same tuner as the automatic one?
I have noticed multidec plugin starting during manual update. This is another possible source of the problem. Could it be avoided for EPG update?

If you look at the file produced by DVBGuide, does it have more informayion than you get with automatic epg update?
