Good suggestion! I will try late tonight because I can't let the pc go to sleep at the moment. I will report tomorrow. Thanks!

After the pc had gone to sleep, I woke it up. Then I did "taskkill" of nrecord.exe, nextpvr.exe and ntray.exe (recordingservice not running at the time).
Then I started "NPVR service" and ntray.exe . NO luck!

I think ntray is the problem, because after the task was started (icon in windows tray) still no response to rightclick on it. And after starting NPVR trying to change through "settings" (right-click) NPVR freezes.

If NTRay hangs, or NextPVR hangs when trying to save settings it is because they can not communicate with NRecord. Try using Sub's scripts to stop and start npvr service first after the pc has resumed, then start NTRay (if it has not started), and after that try NextPVR.

Tried that, ntray not responding and nextpvr freezing when trying to program a recording. I guess it is the NRecord.exe that's causing the problem. But I can't understand what the difference is between rebooting and stopping and starting npvr service.

Are you saying that you cannot schedule a recording after a reboot? If so, there is something obstructing communication between the recording service and the UI. Most likely a firewall or some antivirus/antimalware software.

I can after a reboot, just not after the pc has gone to and woken from sleep. After another reboot, I can again.

That's what Sub said too, in post #2:
sub Wrote:It looks like it's trying to use an local in-process recording service, but it cant because they main recording service is already using the port. It could be related to firewall or antivirus software getting in the way of communication so that the nextpvr.exe session isnt able to see the recording service is also running.

What version are you using? There were some fixes in this area in the last couple of builds to identify if this is the case.

But wouldn't the problem be the same after a reboot and not just after sleep and wake? I can't find anything wrong in the firewall or antivirus that could explain this.
To be sure, I'll totally disable firewall and antivirus and test again. I'll report back.

Well, tried a lot of things.

First of all, firewall and antivirus disabled makes no difference.

After sleep and wake, I manually stopped nrecord.exe, ntray.exe and nextpvr.exe then "start NPVR service" from startmenu.
NTray is frozen, I can start NPVR from startmenu, I can program a recording, recordings starts but when I try to cancel the recording NPVR freezes.

After a reboot(!), I did a "stop NPVR service", then I let the pc go to sleep and wake up again, then "start NPVR service". Everything works normal!

After a reboot(!), I manually stopped ntray.exe and nrecord.exe but not nextpvr.exe, let the pc go to sleep and wake again. Lots of problems again.

If you want me to try another combination, to further investigate the source of the problem, please let me know.

This is beginning to sound like the problem I have had for about a week and was about to do a clean NextPVR install today then possibly a reinstall of Windows. On my server NextPVR seems to work fine until I make a change in “Settings” then sometimes when you click “OK” NextPVR stops responding and has to be killed. This also seems to stop NTray and NRecord functioning correctly and restarting or stopping then starting the service does not help. It doesn’t stop NRecord as there is no error in the Windows logs and a reboot seems to be the only cure. This shutdown process can take over 10 minutes so Windows must have problems but afterwards everything is back to normal. However this morning I am unable to replicate the problem but it does perhaps happen mainly in the evening!

I tried a scheduled task, that runs when an event happens, namely system, kernel-power id=42. Unfortunately, this seems to make the NPVRservice stop right AFTER resume, instead of BEFORE sleep.
Any suggestions for a workaround?

There should be no need to stop the recording service before the pc goes to sleep, but in Resume.bat (in Scripts) you should use "net stop ..." to stop it, kill Ntray, "net start ..." again and then launch Ntray. This should work if all other components of your windows is functioning properly.

BTW, have you checked that the network interface card is not set to power down or some other "green" function, which is known to create problems for server/client setup.
