If you are using MST, be aware that it has an option in it to force a sleep (after a wakeup) if it thinks the EPG update from MCE was finished. That caused me problems in the past because MCE obviously isn't running, so the tool thought "fine, back to sleep it is then", even though NPVR was busy recording at the time.

I seem to recall the option is ticked by default too.

I have not actually installed MST, just run it using the "No" option, so I don't know if that would apply.

I subsequently installed MST, not least to give me a log of events. The system has been running OK with idle timer disabled (Sleep "Never"), but in the last week has started going to sleep about 10 seconds after waking for a daily recording. A re-boot has not fixed this.
I am using MST version 0.9.102 for Win 7(x64) but can't see that option. I assume it was "Suspend when a recording or guide update is finished (on)" on earlier versions but it's not available on this one. It is available on a Vista machine which still has WMC enabled.
I may have to uninstall MST again, or maybe re-install.

instead of the sleep timer I actually change the power profile...I set my computer to wake, change power profile to high power (one that never goes to sleep) then when it's all done transcoding I set it back to balanced where it hibernates after 25 min.

Changing sleep timer didn't work for me at all.

Hmmm, changing the power profile is a clever way round.

I never had much sucess with the PC reliably waking up for a recording though that was a few NPVR versions ago, so I used "Wake up on Standby" download to wake the PC 10 minutes before the NEWS at 6pm, then keep the PC awake.

To sleep I perform a powercfg call to tell the PC to sleep at the end of the last postprocessing.bat file to execute. The windows power profile never tells the PC to sleep.

I tried the powercfg trick a while ago, but it was putting the system into hibernation rather than standby and then the system wouldn't wake.

I uninstalled MST and now the system is staying awake for recording again. The MST version for Windows 7 is still a Beta, and looks like some things in the earlier version have been missed out.
