thanks all fixed
I have just purchased the Hauppauge HD PVR. I have updated the drivers for it. The Hauppauge HD PVR works when I use the software that came with it; however, that software does not have the functionality that Next NPVR offers along with Schedule Direct.
I have tried to configure Next NPVR so that I can record a program as selected from the program list. I have added the channels based on my HD PVR setup: component, RCA back and IR Blaster; however, when I check the details of the added channel it shows that the channel selector is based on IR executable. I cannot tell if the audio is RCA Back. In any event when I click on Quick Record nothing happens. The Hauppauge HC PVR does not start. It is turned on but the normal response where the blue lighting lights up does not happen. Further when I check the video file which is created, it is empty. Also I get a message that the device failed to start. I have attached the Logs. I have no other ideas on how to proceed to troubleshoot this.

In the logs it shows it trying to use SPDIF.
I'd make sure you have most recent patches installed from http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...arted-info, then delete and recreate your channels, since there were a couple of HDPVR related bugs related to this fixed.

Some quick questions:
Does Next NPVR turn on the Hauppauge HD PVR and then can it power on the cable box and change channel or do they all need to be powered on to begin with and it just allows for changing the channel? I tried setting the recording location to a networked computer's hard drive and it failed. Is there a setting which needs to be established to allow for recording to a networked computer? How do I adjust the quality of the video being recorded? Many thanks.

In fact, NextPVR doesn't really do anything directly when it comes to blasters. It's up to your to configure this yourself in whatever blaster software you're using. You can record to UNC paths (ie \\server\share) assuming you've got permissions set appropriately. Quote:How do I adjust the quality of the video being recorded? You can tweak the bitrate parameters in the <HDPVR> section in config.xml

Again thank you for explaining this to me.
