Casmo Wrote:Hi Folks,

I've made a little more progress. The avermedia hybrid card was appearing as a digital device, I've since installed softpvr and added to the analog xml file. The device is now appearing as analog and digital, however when I run a scan in the analog setup screen, its still not finding any channels.
If you manually add some analog channels, rather than scanning for them, do they work?

Thanks for the reply, just tried this. Added channel one (which appears to be E4) getting sound but no picture. Added as composite, tried the other options too but no dice. Any ideas?

Ok, having picked the right mpg decoder, I've now got sound and picture. I've also got my channel list via Mc2xml (though epg is not updating). I'm now trying to get nextpvr to talk to my stb, been messing with HIP but no luck so far. I can't seem to get it to send the signal via the blaster. Is they're an easier way to do this? A lot of the info I've seen on this aspect seems to be from the previous iterations.. Thanks as always

Sorry, I cant really offer you any advice on blaster utilities like HIP. I haven't used a blaster in years.

I'm using the standard mce remote/blaster. As for hip, it just doesn't appear to be sending the command to the blaster, but I'm pretty clueless as to configuring the software to be perfectly honest.. Any pointers appreciated.

Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the mce blaster, but have you had a look at this guide http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Tips/HipGuide? It's a bit outdated but the general rule for setting up HIP is the same, and much of the keyboard shortcuts are the same in npvr as it was in gbpvr. The file KeyMappings.xml in npvr's data directory contains all the command shortcuts to npvr.

Man alive, there's quite a bit involved in getting this working. Im starting to question if its worth the hassle!
Out of interest is anyone here using npvr as a back end to xbmc with the same kind of set up? Be good to know
how well it actually works before going any further.

I'v just done some testing, and as things are now it seems a bit clumsy to use XBMC instead of NextPVR for managing and watching recordings. However I like the possibilities that comes to light from some of XBMC's addons.

Having said that, I'm using HIP on my server, but mainly for remote control since I don't need blasting. I did set up HIP with blasting on my son's npvr installation using an USBUIRT. I did not find it particularly complicated once you understand the philosophy behing HIP. Some people fine it simpler to set up IRSuite, have you had a look at it?

Edit: Perhaps it is called IRServerSuite? I don't remember...
