I got some help from a MCM forum member who had me change that programs output to the WDTV xml output. That works on many occasions and always gives me a [movie title].xml file. However, some of them don't seem to be recognized by NPVR. I'm sending you two xml examples. The 12 years a slave xml works while the adult world xml doesn't. Do you see anything that would account for that? The video file title and the xml title are the same in both cases.

You forgot to attach the example files for adult world.

The 12 Years a Slave files you attached still show the problem I described earlier, where you've got "2013" in the filename of the xml, but not the jpg. They'd need to both be named the same as the video file to be found by the application.

But, 12 Years A Slave works fine. The pic is named folder.jpg and the xml file is as I sent and they give me a small poster with a plot description on the screen. The very same setup in other files only give me the poster. Incidentally, as long as there is a folder.jpg in the folder the movie will show the poster. I'm just trying to figure out why it doesn't always show the plot.

That "Adult World (2013).xml" worked fine. Your video needs to be called something like "Adult World (2013).ts" or "Adult World (2013).mp4" though. ie, don't call it something like "Adult World.ts", it needs to have the " (2013)" for the name to match.

Remember, if you end up reloading your metadata, then you'll probably need to empty you c:\users\public\npvr\thumbs directory again to remove any cached metadata (including empty metadata cache files for video files that previously had no metadata).

The name has to match, and can only vary by extension (or you instead rely on one of the fixed names like tvshow.nfo etc).

Clearing the metadata again solved several problems and I've cleared up the others after I noticed the folders that wouldn't display the xml file had another file in them called .actors, which had been placed in there by one of the many programs I've been playing with. Removing that file allowed the xml file to display. I hate to press my luck here, but I notice the xml files have the actors in the movie, but that isn't displayed by NPVR. Is there any way to get 2 or 3 actors to display along with the plot? At any rate, thanks so much for your help.

Sorry, no it doesn't display the actors. Maybe in a future release though.
