Yea, I know. I intentionally do that with my betas so that folks have to do a manual install of it. It's habit. Maybe not a good one, but a habit nonetheless. I'll go back through the naming stuff and ponder the error of my ways and do something different moving forward.

Ah, I see. If you decide you want to keep all the localizations, I'll go through and localize the old settings stuff as well.

I found a crash I created when localizing the scripts (specifically details.py). Here's an updated zip package. And I believe I have a valid XBMC naming convention now as well. Oh, and I zipped it on my Mac using the command line, so you should be able to install from the zip file now as well.

What is the purpose of smartUTF8() it seems to be overkill if we force the translations to be utf8

I had a problem with another addon I develop crashing when pop ups had a special character from a foreign language. This was the only way I could guarantee that the string passed to the dialog didn't cause a problem. It did (and does) feel like a belt and suspenders kind of thing, but it fixed the issue in my other addon. So I do it out of an over abundance of caution now.

I have been using X-NEWA web client for several months but am interested in the original part of X-NEWA as well. The original script was rejected by XBMC as incompatible but the Beta 2 has loaded and is listed as the X-NEWA add-on version. However when I run it I see the original X-NEWA. Have I missed a setting somewhere to switch to the modified version?

You are probably are see the new localized version of the original Until I make some setup changes what I do is

go to the resources\skins folder
ren Default Default1
ren skin.confluence.mod Default

The other option (and the one I meant to send with the zip of the beta) is to rename skin.confluence.mod to skin.confluence. Add ons that use the skins folder will use a folder that matches the active skin name automatically and use Default as a fall back.

I certainly like what I see that looks to be a lot of work. I only saw a couple of issues

- mouse over on the left menu tab doesn't work it requires a double click
- current time is missing on the EPG it just says Base from some bad code in epg.py (I sometimes use parts of AYBABTU in debugging) Probably a remnant from your bug fix of mine. Taking the bad control cause a truncated time to show.

OK, that's fixed. The fake focus button was way too big, so every time you got near the blade the window refocused on the list. Now the fake focus button is one pixel and in the lower right corner.

I updated epg.py so that "Base" doesn't show up anymore, but I'm not seeing what's missing. I suspect I've gone cross-eyed looking at all this. I've included screen shots from the default skin and the Confluence skin.

I'm also attaching beta3. This includes the fixes above and a new look for any screen where the description was underneath the list item (recordings, upcoming recordings, search, conflicts, etc). Now the details of the item are in a right panel. That way the focused and unfocused layout are the same.

Ok, both problems are fixed for me with this beta, thanks. Now that you have details on some lists, I'd like to see some art too. I didn't see any on your details screen but I figured that was a space issue on those small dialogs. There are some examples in details but I might to make code changes for that in lists.

I did notice right click doesn't cancel All Records lists like it does for other lists.

I've attached the XNEWA_Connect.py that gets the server side schedule defaults from NEWA. In house cleaning, you also distributed a skin file that maybe isn't needed upcoming-org
