What version of HDHR firmware are you using?

I have an HDHR Prime and my BDA is set to NextPVR (always has been, in fact) with no such problems. I am also using the same decoders as you (PVD13 & LAV respectively)

Here is what seems odd to me - your server utilization numbers. On my A4-5000 (roughly 40% capability of your 965) my server's cpu utilization is between 1 - 2% and my network utilization playing an HD channel is between 2 - 3%. I am not sure what else is running on your server, but something is driving your server's utilization quite high. Are you running other applications? Using task manager, can you tell what processes are driving up the utilization?

Hey 2Leftfeet,

I have 6 gadgets setup monitoring RAM, CPU, Network, Disks, top processes. Speedfan is also running plus I have a MagicJack attached to this machine. The sidebar app is usually the top offender - looking at it right now it's sucking up ~ 5% of the total 10% CPU Usage. Network utilization is 0% at the moment - but nothing is recording or playing.

Probably a little excessive with the monitoring I know, but what can I say. Smile

Regards,

Todd

the latest firmware is 20150826.

as a test, temporarily stop those processes that are consuming cpu resources, and see if the freezes continue.

I downloaded the Windows version software from the Silicondust site and ran it. It would only do a "repair", and then afterwards there is no firmware upgrade initiated when I run HDHomeRun config.

I think I remember reading in the Silicondust Forums that this older HDHomeRun device will only upgrade firmware to 20150604 due to a limitation on the hardware. I'll see if I can find that again.

As I think the HDHomeRun software was just re-installed, I'll 1st try to recreate my problem again as is. If still not fixed, I'll then try stopping all unnecessary programs & monitors to see if it has any effect on my problem.

Will have to wait until tonight though - will report results back this evening.

Many thanks 2leftfeet.

You may want to "downgrade" you HDHR firmware to previous version that allows a "generic" larger stream setting, as that solved these issues for me long ago - I ran an upgrade that left me in the state you are in and then returned to previous HDHR Dual Version 20141124

According to the forum gurus @SiliconDust, firmware is not downgradeable or allowed - they claim issues w/r to CableLabs.

After re-installing the HDHomeRun software this morning, I again tried tonight to watch TV on a client PC. No dice - picture still freezes. I can see the sound start to get out of sync with the picture and then about 2 seconds later the picture freezes.

I next stopped all the gadgets that were running, plus also stopped Malwarebytes, Speedfan...anything I could find, and retried viewing at client PC, but still freezing.

I'm confused how I can watch a show using VLC or recorded, but the same show will freeze if i watch it live...

My wife now has 30+ shows setup to record because she can't watch them live...and she's starting to complain about the IT support at home Rolleyes

With the ability to watch a show on the Server and/or via VLC, do you think it would still be a HDHomeRun issue?

Have you seen this ...

hayeskl Wrote:I was able to downgrade my HDHomeRun Prime to version 20141210 (although the firmware is still running 20150826). ThSmileis has fixed the skip and FF for all new recordings, but the recording made with 20150826 are still not working.

I also installed the latest SAF decoders and that seems to have my system running better, but does not fix the old recording either. However, the MPC-HC video player allowed me to watch them as a work around.

Thanks for all the help!
