Timeshifting in MP is different in that it creates one rolling file per live tv session so there is a lot less teardown/building between changes.

rykr Wrote:ok, just tested it. was using Remote desktop but it was still 7-8 seconds to tune a channel. Tried 4 HD channels each tuning from guide.
There is no reason it should take that long.

If you can reproduce the issue, then zip and attach your logs, I'll take a look.

Here are my logs. I did a clean install of win10. Updated the ceton firmware (as much as I could). Reinstalled and setup npvr. Same results. 7-8 second tuning.

There is one significant delay in your logs in the middle of tuning your device:

Quote:2015-10-28 13:39:33.039 [DEBUG][16] Stream URI: rtsp://192.168.200.1:8554/cetonmpeg3
2015-10-28 13:39:37.570 [DEBUG][16] Socket connected to: 192.168.200.1:8554
Here it's taking 3.5 seconds to connect a socket to the device. This would normally be nearly instant. I'm not really sure why this is so slow. It's not trying to do anything other than connect.

sub,

just to chime in here, you are familiar with my setup. (Ceton ETH 6)
things are much better, after all the work you put into it, but my channel tuning is pretty much the same as what RYKR is seeing.
From the time I select a channel from the guide, it usually takes 5-8 seconds before the show plays.
Some channels take even longer.
This is directly on the NPVR server.
I routinely miss the opening seconds of my recordings, but I hate to bug you after all the time you put in.

I remember the Ceton's being slow tuning with the old NetworkRecorder plugin and SageDCT logs for DRI too. MP uses UPnP maybe it is faster?

I just discovered that the slow tuning only seems to happen when selecting from the guide.
If I go thru the channels screen it is pretty fast.
I'm not sure now if I have a problem, but you're certainly welcome to log in and have a look.
Check your email.

No speed difference here tuning from the channel list. Still 7-8 seconds.

I did some more testing.
The first time I select from the channel list it's still 5-8 seconds.
If I change the channel while the video is playing it's shorter; maybe 3 seconds, on most, but not all channels.
