Using Native NextPVR app for windows with Timeshift set to Time Based.....
Select channel to view: Exhibits the same behavior with the exception that after exiting it only leaves the current file (or newest).
It only Does this if it goes past the maximum 4 files AND the show changes. (this will show after 66:41 minutes if starting with a 1 hour show)
This file is only a small segment and not the full show. It also may be a different show than was started originally. (doesn't add new files based on show)
Changing the channel: Deletes all previous temp files created and starts over UNLESS a new show starts on that channel it goes past the maximum 4 files,
Then the last "current" file Does NOT delete and remains in the temp folder. (Same as above)
Changing the Channel before the show changes: Results in all temp files being deleted and a new string starting for the new show.
Recording a show: The file does not appear in the temp file, it goes straight to the default
recording folder, creates a master folder for the show, pulls the correct metadata and naming convention
and creates a thumb for the episode (acts as it should)
Let's just focus on 'time based' for now, because it's quicker for you to reproduce the problem.
If you just leave start live tv, in NextPVR itself, and leave it on a channel, not changing channels, do you get more than 4 files (don't change channels)? When you later stop live tv, do the files go away?
I'll be able to add some logging to help determine what's happening, but I'm just trying to narrow down exactly where is the best place to add that logging.
BTW, Are you running any antivirus software? I'm wondering if it's got the file open, scanning when NextPVR is trying to delete it.
Hey all, i'm able to help with any testing if needed as well. I would have jumped in earlier but Ex70s is responding quickly and I guess when I received replies I haven't been getting notifications.
After the testing from yesterday and your decision to stick with Time Based timeshifting, before going to bed I decided to reboot the pc and restart the recording service and start anew today.
To my surprise I awoke to NO files left in the temp directory! woohoo!
And...... My daughter scheduled a recording through Kodi which also acted correctly.
It looks as though It Does work better for some reason on Time Based. Are there any drawbacks to Time Based rather than EPG based?
Now replying to your questions above.... I get 5 total files in the temp directory when I start a channel in NextPVR and yes they get removed when I stop Live tv.
Yes I run Windows Microsoft Essentials.
Let me know If you would like to have me test anything else..... or switch back to EPG based for further testing.
Thanks again

P.S. This program is better than sliced bread! You rock my friend!

Is it behaving the same when you try this in Kodi?
