Sorry to revive an old thread, but I think that this only happens with the Direct 3D renderer. I just have this suspicion because I recently installed a new disk and was using Direct 2D and don't notice the glitching.

Is there a way I can force the old install (which does glitch, is running Direct 3D) to use the Direct 2D renderer? Maybe there is a registry setting it checks to see if Directx 9.0c is available I could edit?

You could have run "NextPVR.exe -2d" or even "NextPVR.exe -no3d"

That -no3d should work with everything. It disables any attempts at animation, and just uses simple bitmap style rendering.

Is the glitching still bad on Windows 10? It's all but gone in the latest drivers for 8, although the framerate of whatever's playing stutters a bit still while the osd is active. However, the Netflix app for 8 doesn't get any development love, so I wouldn't mind trying 10 again, but I'll happily live with an older Netflix app vs the glitching!

Thanks sub, that's brilliant!

Iain, sub, have you any thoughts as to what might be causing this? I understand it's a drive issue, but is there anything might help (e.g. different video codecs?).

I'm working at building a fanless ITX system, but haven't migrated from my old machine yet. It's a J4205 with Intel HD 505 graphics. Unfortunately there's no room for another graphics card in the ITX system. Sad

I don't know. I've not seen it myself. You could see if changing video renderer helps, or changing video decoder.

Hi sub,

Sorry it took me about 5 months to get looking at this!

I can confirm that it's only EVR that exhibits this problem. The various VMR9 options mostly work, but they definitely don't look as nice (resolution / colours) as EVR.

If I swap the Intel Driver for the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter driver, the screen flicker issue does go away (but then I've no HW acceleration).

Have you any thoughts on an approach to a solution? Is it worth engaging with Intel, or is that a dead end?

I can give you remote access to the machine if that would help.

Sorry, I don't know. It's obviously something to do with the video drivers. I'd be seeing if there is any Intel settings that help. I've personally never tried talking to big companies like Intel - I'm not sure if that avenue would work or not.

Thanks sub,

I'm going to engage with Intel and see if they respond. I've seen a few forum posts over there about issues with the EVR renderer:

https://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/...pic/605881 - DirectX and EVR

https://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/...pic/604045

Very similar to what I've found, older Intel graphics are fine, but the newer ones (500, 600 series) are having problems. Apparently they identified and fixed the bugs above, so the flickering graphics bug must be different or the patch never made it into the driver.

Would you be able to tell me are there any particular methods that NextPVR is calling when it renders the TV Guide / programme info / timeline on top of the video?

Thanks for all your help.
