From those logs nothing at all is talking to the web server (thanks from turning Kodi off) so the issue is likely the port forwarding or NextPVR server firewall.

Any ideas what I should be doing next as far as port forwarding or NextPVR server firewall - I have no idea what that is.

Thanks

He's saying it's stuff outside of NextPVR. ie, either the firewall software on your machine that NextPVR installed is blocking external requests, or your network router hasn't been configured to forward external requests to the machine with NextPVR installed. The steps to configure those would really depend what firewall software you're using, or what network router you're using.

I am using Norton 360 and the router is Netgear.

I have tried setting uo the port forwarding - I have used the Internal IP address of my laptop with port 8866 for forwarding.

A I using the correct IP address? Some people on the board were talking about External IP address - What is that - I do not see it anywhere in the router pages.

Can you advise if possible.

Thanks

I don't know anything about Norton 360, or Netgear routers, so not well placed to give you advice on either of these.

Maybe temporarily try disabling Norton 360, then see if the browser on you device can access the NextPVR website at http://<ipaddress>:8866. The iOS app uses this same web server for communicating with NextPVR.

I was able to access the NextPVR website from my laptop with no problem (with Norton ON).

I then tried to access it from my iphone remotely (no wifi) - Had no success even after disabling the Norton 360.

I am not sure if I am using the correct IP address for port forwarding.

Should I be using the IP address I used to access the NextPVR web site, for port forwarding, or does it have to be a different IP address?

Ok - so probably related to network router port forwarding configuration.

You'd generally configure you router to forward port 8866 to your NextPVR machine's internal IP address.

...that said, I only ever recommend both the web app and iOS for local network use within the home. I can't be sure it's hardened enough to be secure for open access from the internet.

From a computer on your local network, open a browser and go to http://whatsmyip.net/. That will tell you what your external IP address is. Make sure that you use that address when you configure the iOS app.

For the port forwarding on your router, you need to tell it to forward to the IP address of your server where NextPVR is running. (Which would also be the IP address you use to access the server from your local network.)

Got it - Thank you both - I will give it a shot and see how it goes.

Just to let you know, I have a range extender in the house and my laptop which has the NextPVR setup, is on it.
