I finally had a chance to do some more testing. I initiated a recording from the guide on a channel that is not streaming. The program recorded just fine and I was able to watch the recording just fine. No issues. I just can't stream the same channel.

Please find the kodi log attached.

Thank you.

Here is a snipped from the logs for a channel that isn't streaming:

Code:

05:18:55.898 T:1228927904  NOTICE: Creating Demuxer

I don't know if that is an issue or not. The one thing that I noticed is that this issue is not contestant. One moment a channel isn't streaming, the next it is. Then a couple hours later, it isn't streaming again.

Thanks

Hello,

Has there been any update on this issue? Are the logs not of any help?

Thank

I'm no expert at reading Kodi log files, and unfortunately there is no obvious error shown in there.

Do these channels work consistently in NextPVR itself?

When you try watching a channel in NextPVR, it creates a temporary .ts file in your live tv buffer directory. If you copy that file while trying to stream to Kodi, can you play that file (either in NextPVR or other players like VLC)? This is the data it is sending to Kodi.

Yes, the channels play fine in NPVR itself, and I can watch the temp file on the NPRV server just fine.

One thing that is certain, is that this is inconsistent from minute to minute. It's constant across the environment. Meaning, if I can't stream a channel on one pi, then I can't stream that same channel on another pi. Also, one day a certain channel may play just fine, but a few hours later, that channel will no longer play, and then it will suddenly start playing again. Very inconsistent.

Recordings seem to work just fine. I can watch a recording with no issues at all.

I suspect that this is a network related issue. I don't remember where, but I read something in one of the kodi logs that it couldn't establish a port connection. I tried running a netstat on the npvr server, assuming that I would see port 8866 open and listening, thinking that was the port that you're listening on, but I don't see that port.

Another thing, if I'm watching live TV and decide to change the channel, it'll hang the NPVR server and knock it off the network. I have to reboot the NPVR server as well as the pi to re-establish connection.

I wonder if there is something going on with the NPVR add-on? That's the one peice of this puzzle that I can't troubleshoot. I don't know of any logs for the add-on.

I hope that you can get this resolved soon. It's really becoming an issue.

Thanks

Rosede,

Here is a "shot in the dark" suggestion - I am not sure it work, it doesn't even make sense to me, but....

I had a similar problem as you after the 4.2.1 update. I was unable to stream from two Prime channels in Kodi, (in my case - they were the History channel and Travel channel) - the symptoms were very similar to the ones you are experiencing. Every other channel seemed to play fine in Kodi.

In the process of setting up a test server to do dedicated testing, I had to rerun the HDHomerun setup program and performed a new channel scan with the HDHomerun setup software on the test server. As soon as I did that, for some magical reason, those two channels, that were not streaming in Kodi,, but only nextpvr, started streaming in both nextpvr AND Kodi (even on my house server) - and has been working ever since.

So my crazy suggestion would be for you to try the same thing - rerun the HDHomerun setup program (from any PC on your network), rescan and try to stream those problematic channels. I am not sure that this will help you in your case, but shouldn't hurt.

For me, its not just the premium channels, it's also the over the air channels that my cable provider offers. Yes, History channel is one of the channels effected, but so is Fox News, which is one that I watch constantly.

I can try your suggestion, but right now I just don't have the time to do it. I have so much other things on my plate that I don't have the time to stand up test system.

My gut tells me that the issue lay's with the communication between NPVR and the kodi add-on. That I can watch the effected channels in NPVR and on the android app, but I just can't do it in kodi. Communication between the add-on and NPVR is breaking down somewhere.

Rosede, You mis-understand...

1. I am not talking about premium channels - it is only regular non-premium cable channels I am talking about - just like you.

2. You "don't" have to setup a test server, Just re-run setup, rescan and save configuration using any PC that you have that is on the network of your prime - It will re-save the latest HDHR confiuration on the hdhomerun prime itself.

I believe sub is being sponsored by "deep-state" and part of a conspiracy to keep you from seeing real news.

Also can you send the NextPVR logs and the full Kodi logs, to help see the situation more clearly.
