Unable to rewind live video

I'm running with a 5 minute timeshift buffer. I'll look at the logs as I have time, but I do have a full time job that has to come first.

It's harder to fix things I can't reproduce locally.

Guys, just to confirm, that timeshift (which only works by the way on Windows, not on Android yet) with next pvr addon and kodi 18 Leia latest nightly cannot rewind. Well, to be exact, it does take the command as I see repeated rewind clicks to increase the rewind factor (2x, 4x, 8x...) but nothing is happening on the screen, and once I press play to start playing kodi freezes...

rewind clicks and 2x, 4x, 8x ? Are you talking about changing the playback speed in reverse? I don't kodi supports that on live streams. The only method of changing positions in the timeshiftbuffer that I am aware of are seeks. On a keyboard, these are supported by the left (back) and right (forward) arrow keys, at least on the Windows build. settings->player on the video tab defines the skip steps and skip delay.

Please see post #11 above, which just popped out of moderation by virtue of the illustrious Sub. I will look at logs, but I can't promise a timeline.

As I hope you can see from the video, I'm not able to re-create the level of problems that you're reporting. Regarding the buffering spinner, I've noticed on the RPI builds, where we have two HW assisted video players, one called OMX and one called MMAL, if I allow MMAL to be selected, I get horrible playback with many buffering waits. If I use OMX, well, if you watch the video, you can see, it works pretty slick.

No problem at all, I just wanted to be sure expectations weren't too high. :-) I did want to ask, would you be willing to run a test build of the addon, with some addition logging, should it come to that?

More than happy to assist anyway I can. I watched your recording of your experience. I believe if the Timeshift Buffer is small, I have a similar experience.

Last night I was watching a movie on 1 channel for about an hour or so, at 1 point, I paused for about 5 minutes and then came back and un-paused, that was fine, however, if I then tried to Skip Forward (due to the 5 minute pause), it hung Addon/Kodi,
so it seems like its when the buffer is larger that this issue occurs. Kodi 17.6 works fine for all the above, so its not like I can't roll-back to resolve if need be, but figured I'd stay on Kodi 18 and help work through it If I can.

Direct Message or post in this thread and i'll provide logs/data whatever I can to assist. Thanks again for all your assistance on this.
