Remote Issue - Argh!

999 was effectively a player-side thing, to tell it to toggle comskip off.

in v4 with PCH, NextPVR was much more involved in playback, and knew where playback was up to, managed skips etc. With the UI Client stuff, much more of these playback type things are handed directly by the client.

I suspect it just comes down to Kodi player uses different types of keys to interact with the comskip, and has slightly different behaviour.

Right but I think @baj1 is suggesting that if he types 999 he would like to have UI client not send seeks in SDL mode.

I don't use comskip myself, so it's not entirely clear to me how it's behaving. A bit later today I'll try to setup a test to reproduce.

FYI, 999 autoskip toggle works with my CoreElec ODroid N2/Kodi/NextPVR/knewc, that much I know. The autoskip status text pops up on the screen, and if I toggle it on during a commercial it immediately jumps to the end of the Comskip commercial segment.

As we have always done with the PCH/MVP, pressing the "Play" (KEY_PLAY, not KEY_PLAYPAUSE) button during playback of a recording at a position Comskip has identified as a commercial WILL cause playback to skip to the end of the commercials segment (Martin typed beginning, but I suspect his brain got ahead of his fingers). This actually works with ONE of my CoreElec ODroid N2/Kodi/NextPVR/knewc boxes with the remote. On the other N2, it won't work from the Hauppauge 45 button remote, but if I plug in a keyboard and press 'P' (should be = KEY_PLAY, right?) it does work. After thinking about this today I realized that means the problem isn't with NextPVR/knewc, it's gotta be in my IR remote config because it's not sending KEY_PLAY (or 'P') to the video player. It does appear to be sending KEY_PLAYPAUSE instead because pressing the Play button on the remote will pause/play the recording. I don't know how these two ended up different, I thought I had followed all the same steps in configuring them.

I'm intrigued that I seem to be doing something you guys might not have expected to work with this setup. However I hope I haven't wasted your time if this turns out to be something goofy with my N2 IR remote config.

It won't be the remote. Sounds like one of them using a share via advanced settings that will be making a difference positive or negative. For the non working one copy the other xml file

I did copy the advancedsettings.xml from the completely-working N2 (#2) to the mostly-working N2 (#1).  It was faster than retyping.  :-)

I'm curious why you think it is not the remote config in the N2?  The mostly-working N2 has functional Comskip -- the "autoskip on" will auto skip commercials during playback, so does "autoskip off" and using a keyboard to enter 'P' during commercial playback.  It's just that the Play button the remote seems to be stuck with a KEY_PLAYPAUSE definition when I have it defined as KEY_PLAY in my remote definition file. 

In fact I re-configured the remote (using meson-ir method in the link below) and changed the Pause button from KEY_PLAYPAUSE to just KEY_PAUSE, but now BOTH Play and Pause on my Hauppauge 45 button remote still function as Play/Pause buttons.

It seems like there is something cached in the IR remote settings on the mostly-working N2.  Maybe I'll see if there's a way to clear all remote commands on the N2 and start over.

If play pause and nine are working in Kodi and they are pretty standard for most  lirc setups, knewc will send them to NextPVR.  If you are having trouble configuring them there is nothing I can do to help

That's kind of what I figured, unless you had some general insights on Kodi and remotes.

Well, mark this one "solved". After thinking on the "cached data" concept I repeated the IR remote configuration procedure again, but this time I changed the table name in the first line of the key mapping file for the remote. It didn't work right away, but does now after I rebooted the N2.

Was:
# table MVP, type: rc5

Now:
# table MVP3, type: rc5

Glad you figured something out. That table name in itself won't mean anything to others since it is your configuration and not in other files in the keymaps folder but is likely related to other setup you did.
