I used PIP all the time in v4 for watching live sports while following multiple games. No wonder I haven't noticed PIP is missing in v5.. :/

For me when I click PIP in FF it just detaches the video from the browser window.

They pop out the video to your desktop so you can have a video running in a small window without having the browser tab itself open and you can do other things. PIP isn't such a great term for it I think, it's just a "pop up video player". Obviously real PIP in TV viewing is far different with simultaneous streams, swapping between them, etc.
