What I showed is only an example and timing does depend on controlling the service exactly right. If you do your own update on-demand you are using the wrong option, use xmltv-update without the second time parameter (which is the cause of the timing problems).

had to take a break but am back at trying to get this to work. All of my recording attempts failed and i think this bug forthis channel you found may be why. I keep finding the recording service bugged out or locked up or something because nothing can connect to it not even the web app. Then when i go restart the windows nrecord service everything starts working again. So I just attempted to record something currently airing and watched it fail and the tray icon go from green to gray and the backend quit responding again. This is new though then what i was finding before when i first set this up and it would record a little and then fail. Im also now having major issues and multiple attempts to restart the service arent working so im not sure whats going on. one of the logs are showing any errors either.

NextPVR shouldn't stop responding if a stream fails (perhaps you mean the browser) so logs would help here

In any case if you don't follow the steps I explained above you are wasting your time testing and reporting until streamlink changes things.

yeah im not sure whats going on or if the issue is something with this channel and streamlink or me screwing things up trying to get it working. Im starting over again and making sure my basic stuff like the atsc channels all play and record normally and then ill try adding pluto back in and see if i can recreate the problem. I need to figure out whats going on or reporting a bug to anyone is just going to get blank stares and it works for me responses. If i start having the same issues then ill try your version of pluto.py and see what the logs say.

I traced steamlink on that channel and the python fails with the current pluto.py It works on the old one I posted. That is pretty straightforward.

This won't impact ATSC at all but playing around with the EPG update times and scheduled task might. Get the channel working first.

got everything reinstalled and confirmed atsc is working to play and record then went right to record this pluto channel and within 10 seconds the tray icon went from green to gray and the backend stopped responding. I can play it live just fine but everytime i try to record it just bombs out npvr's backend service. So i tried watching a diferent pluto channel, confirmed its working then hit record and the recording started fine but when i went to play the recording all it recorded was the warp speed pluto tv thing. Then i just started clicking around to watch and record various channels and the more i did it the more things seemed to work better including trying to record the 720 channel again and it worked without breaking npvr.

I honestly have no idea whats going on. I did find that this is single stream and you cant watch anything while you record. One of my previous issues i think was due to having multiple pluto recordings at the same time.

These posts without logs don't help. You do need the current streamlink and pluto.py to avoid some warp speed stops, but even then that can actually be on screen for minutes on some channels instead of a commercial.

Most channels will work with the new API which is why I am signing off on this now because I told you what you need to do if you want any hope of enjoying this channel in NextPVR.

I havent posted logs because im not sure they will help and im starting to realize part of my problem is a learning curve with the plugin. I also am trying to do overnight recordings so its slowing me down trying to figure out the problems. After last night and recording another channel im seeing the same thing there as on 720. That problem i just discovered isnt the recording issue of failures partway through though, if i sit and watch the recoding plays fine. If I attempt to skip or fast forward to the end I get errors in playback like failed to start stream or the warp speed screen. So now i tried playing the ts recording in vlc and vlc is showing its only 10 seconds long, wont ffwd or skip but continues playing past the 10 second mark just fine. Pause and play works in npvr but if i stop it wont resume from where i stopped. The warp speed screen is also misleading because its hard to tell if its an issue or just pluto filling air time.

What i really dont know is if this is just limitations to the plugin or if i have a setup issue or playback issue, but this time ive attached logs which will have yesterdays recording of the bbc food channel and the show full on food.

Oh and in all my back and forth of uninstalls and reinstalls i discovered yesterday i failed to reinstall streamlink and thaqts why i was having the issue of npvr bombing. Ive got all that sorted now and im back to the orignal issue that i started the post over. Just now troubelshooting i discovered its a ffwd or skip problem and not the recording failing partway in, i think. I havent watched more than about 10 minutes of any recording but i have tried to skip to parts i know i just watched and it fails.

The only reason I wanted to see the logs was to address your concern that the addon was crashing NextPVR and there were no crashes here.

Many PlutoTV streams will have bad timestamps so they really cannot be enjoyed like tuner based recordings and often need to be post processed to mkv or mp4. You should still be able to play them in straight time just as you would in PlutoTV. VOD streams seem to play much better.

I didn't even see any attempt to play these in NextPVR.exe. Playing recordings in the web interface you really should in general be post processing anyway.
