The fact that the file doesn't grow seems to match the issue with the recordings. They appear to be about 20 mins long, but only contain about 1 minute of real data. NextPVR appears to be getting the stream, but it's not storing the data for some reason. I assume it uses the same method for recording and live TV, for live, it probably just stores the stream in a temp location, and the browser is just reading it from the temp file to show the "live" stream.

So, if NextPVR gets the stream, why is it not dumping the data to the file beyond 1 minute? It is something specific to the format of this stream. It could be that Channel 7 have changed up their stream format recently, and NextPVR doesn't like it for some reason. I have had similar issues with Channel 7 and NextPVR in the past; they have put out streams which won't play properly and I have had to convert mpeg4 afterwards to play it, but this time it's far worse, the stream just isn't being written to the file. These streams are playable since hsplayer works with them, there's just something about them that NextPVR doesn't like.

I'm happy to play with debug builds of NextPVR if it will help.

If you try a recording, do you end up with a file, and if you play it with NextPVR or another player, does it report a correct duration?

Annoying this stream is geo blocked, so I can't access it from here in NZ.

Yeah, I'm using a VPN which runs 24x7 on my NextPVR server to access the stream. All the Australian TV streams are geo blocked, but most VPNs will get round it.

The recording does create a file, however is it usually quite small. The file appears to be between 20 and 45 minutes long (which is not the entire length of that recording BTW), but there is in fact only about 1 minute of real data inside the container. One just recorded a hour or so ago. It was 35 meg in size, but it is supposed to be a 46 minute H264 MPEG4 at 104 kbps. i.e 25 meg is way too small. Here's what Plex analysis thinks of it:

Media
Duration 46:12
Bitrate 104 kbps
Width 1280
Height 720
Aspect Ratio 1.78
Video Resolution 720p
Container MPEGTS
Audio Profile he-aac
Video Profile high
Part
Duration 46:12
File Medical.Emergency.S03E03.ts
Size 34.44 MB
Audio Profile he-aac
Container MPEGTS
Video Profile high
Codec H264
Bitrate 40 kbps
Bit Depth 8
Chroma Location left
Chroma Subsampling 4:2:0
Coded Height 720
Coded Width 1280
Color Range tv
Frame Rate 50 fps
Height 720
Level 3.2
Profile high
Ref Frames 2
Scan Type progressive
Stream Identifier 1000
Width 1280
Display Title 720p (H.264)
Extended Display Title 720p (H.264)
Codec AAC
Channels 2
Bitrate 64 kbps
Language English
Language Tag en
Audio Channel Layout stereo
Profile he-aac
Sampling Rate 48000 Hz
Stream Identifier 2000
Display Title English (HE-AAC Stereo)
Extended Display Title English (HE-AAC Stereo)

The file only plays for 1 minute.

I can upload the actual .ts file if it helps.

Your original log file looked just like what I get from here in NZ. It's able download the m3u8, but all of the segments return a 403 forbidden, because of the geo blocking.

If you're in Australia, it might be worth trying a test with the VPN disabled.

Unfortunately my NextPVR server is outside Aus, hence the VPN.

The Australian channels do occasionally block some VPNs until the VPN provider gets around it, but this is something different, the stream is not geo blocked, it just plain stops after a short time. I have attached the latest .ts and xml file in zip format so it allows the upload (since it is so small), in case you can get any useful info from it (you should probably delete it from the forum after downloading it).

OK, it killed the upload. I guess 35 meg is too big. It's here:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MYjW1as...share_link

I'll delete it at some point.

It looks like they're requiring some session cookie to be stored, and supplied on subsequent requests, which NextPVR isn't doing, so each time NextPVR asks for the stream, it always indicates it's starting at segment 0, and the 6 segments of the stream it's providing looks like the bits it has already processed, so it doesn't ask for them again.

You could try adding the following in the <General> section of config.xml:

<UseFinalM3U8>true</UseFinalM3U8>
