I've attached logs as requested. This session was based on a fresh channel scan and an attempt to obtain ota Freesat EPG. Doesn't look like it succeeded. I'm now performing a DVB/ATSC EPG scan to see if that yields anything.

Thanks for the logs, the question for sub is a little different, does SAT>IP support Freesat EPG. SAT>IP is multi platform.

Yes. As I explained above a startup scan of 11778 V in TVHeadend will provide a full 7 day EPG of all Freesat channels.

Right but I was assuming a digital tuner not SAT>IP in my earlier responses for lack of information. I understand Freesat does a reasonable EPG, but we need sub's input.

The logs should give you all the setup details you need. NPVR correctly recognises it immediately as a twin tuner and scanning works perfectly. The xml file correctly populates the epg on all channels. It’s how the Freesat EPG function is implemented in NPVR is probably the issue here. Obviously you can’t check that at your end due to your location.

You may not understand sub is the sole author of NextPVR so I can't answer if Freesat EPG is even supported outside Windows or with SAT>IP on Windows.

Yes I figured that. That’s why I’m posting here in the hope that he’ll pick up on this issue. Thanks for you input though. Maybe he’ll be able to look at the logs and see what they are pointing at. I doubt it will be difficult to implement this feature in Linux and would definitely be a big win for other Linux users.

I don't think it sounds easy at all. Easy is UK users paying a cup of coffee a month and getting Schedules Direct which will give you even better guide data.

For SAT>IP it isn't even a Linux issue.

I’m not sure about cups of coffee or Schedule Direct but what I do know is that in TVHeadend I can run a simple Cron job on startup and have a 7 day OTA detail rich EPG populate my channel list that doesn’t involve cups of coffee or monthly subscriptions.

Again I can simply generate an OTA xml epg file and add it to my NPVR session. I imagine that feature could be successfully replicated and implemented in NPVR.

If Sub does come across this issue he’ll probably be the best person to confirm this.

Agreed it is cheaper but it is not as rich as Scheduled Direct and not everyone can be bothered setting up cron or TVH just for this, why not just use TVH unless sub can implement this.

For basic users the rytek UK Freesat XMLTV is probably a good alternative to that, just download one of these URLs in a NextPVR UpdateEPG scripts and extract.

Code:
        <source type="gen_xmltv" channels="rytec.channels.xml.xz">
            <description>UK/Ireland - FreeSat/FTA (xz)</description>
            <url>http://www.xmltvepg.nl/rytecUK_Basic.xz</url>

        </source>
