Thanks for the info.  I have been reading the wiki but I think the part that confused me was that it said " The ATSC EPG in the US and Canada is for only the next few hours, so not recommended for use." so not getting any data was really confusing and I assumed user error.  I did totally scroll by and miss the US and Canada link though (prob got distracted by the helpful screenshots) .  Also not seeing where your Libreelec/NextPVR is mentioned yet either, everything I've read so far seem to be for Windows support.

https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/LibreElec on the Linux page. Most of the screenshots and guides are multi platform

I've read that page several times and it was instrumental for me for getting the scan tables and the NextPVR.zip file but if there is something about using zap2xml in there I still don't see it.  Sorry don't mean to be dense.

The DVB and ATSC EPG both work on Windows

The DVB EPG works on Linux. The ATSC EPG does not. You’d need to use either Schedules Direct or XMLTV instead.

Sorry I meant zap2epg not zap2xml.  In either case neither of them are specific to LibreELEC so I wouldn't write about them on that page.

I mentioned zap2epg primarily because I rewrote it to help Kodi TVHeadend users migrate to NextPVR if they were already using it.  I have been reluctant to post it because there is little or no support for these utilities.  The instructions are for standard version https://github.com/edit4ever/script.module.zap2epg/wiki  Other than porting to python3 and removing the per episode download for cast and crew, the only real change for NextPVR is the added screen shown here.  If you think based on the original wiki and searching zap2epg you can figure it out on your own I can post it.   Using XMLTV with NextPVR is much easier than with TVHeadend so ignore those steps and follow the NextPVR wiki.

While zap2epg is primarily a Kodi addon and can be triggered by Kodi it can also run standalone and get triggered by NextPVR's UpdateEPG script but that requires python installation etc.  Like zap2xml with perl but the NextPVR Schedules Direct integration makes all that nonsense unnecessary.   Schedules Direct is relatively cheap and just because support on the forum is "free" it has a cost to sub and I for things I'd rather be doing.  Plus the scrapped web site could change at any time.

Looks doable. I'll give it a shot after I'm done with my day job and let you know how it turns out.

Ok I hadn't released anything for NextPVR, but I posted my update from last year here https://github.com/emveepee/script.modul.../tag/2.1.0 I think it should import as a Kodi addon, but I didn't test it, remembering that I don't want to spend a lot of time on this.

I think I had very good success with the zap2epg addon.  It to 68 seconds to find 7 stations and 239 episodes written to xmltv.xml
The only problem is I don't know where the file is and what to write for the location on the local host:8866 so I finish matching up the channels to the XML file info.

You need to find the file probably /storage/.kodi/userdata/add_data\script.module.zap2epg\xmltv.xml and load it in NextPVR as an XMLTV source and auto map by channel name when you find it. All the TVHeadend/NextPVR functionality does is filter the list from the zap2it.com You might be able to increase the days to get more data.

The hard part is automating it so you don't have to trigger an update
