I tried to use the executable but it I couldn't get it to work(Link). So I move to SageTV was able to config was to control my DirecTV D10 revceiver. However, I found out that the D10 recent firmware broke changing channels below 100.

However, I also found out that perl script fixed that problem (Link). So I am not tryin tot get that "Direc TV Channel Control" executable to work again.

I followed the configuration of this executable but have a few questions.

I set the full path name to the directv.exe. When you set the “Parameters” option to “-port COMx #{channel}.” Does that mean COMx should be COM1 because I have my serial cable pluged into COM 1?

Also, do I need any other software installed on my computer to run along with this executable.

Yes. Depending on the COM port you are using you need to change the COMx to either COM1, COM2, etc.

There seems to be a problem in the executable with supporting the D10 receiver. I've asked some people to get me the "verbose on" output from there runs (the more the better) in order to track down the problem.

I will also look at the link for the perl script that you say fixed the problem and see if the executable is doing the same thing.

Cool... supposedly the new script does supports the D10 receivers.

If it's anything I can do let me know. I have some programming background. However, I have never messed with perl and wouldn't know about how to converting to windows executable. Unless you want to tell me how you are doing it.

Also for the record I could not get any of the dtvcontrol.com tools to work with my receiver. His info states my receiver is supported but it hasn't been tested. I'm going to let him know it doesn't seem to work with mine.

Cheval...I'd VERY MUCH like to use your program however it doesn't seem to work w/ any of my DirecTV receivers. I currently have a Sony (at work now but I'm pretty sure it's a Sony Sat-B2) connecteved via Serial port which I'm using with BeyondTV..and this works well..however I'd like to use the same connection w/ GBPVR but can't get it to work w/ you program.

Eventually, i'd like to replace this receiver w/ another newer one I have (Hughes Executive Director)..I just haven't made the cable for it yet (RJ-11 jack on the Hughes...9-pin on the Sony) .

Is there anything I can do to assist in helping you tweak the program to work w/ these receivers ? If so..let me know !!!

BTW..to Sub and all others contributing developers..FANTASTIC stuff !!!

I'm aware there may be a problem in the program controlling anything other than an RCA receiver. I've recently got some good bebug output from a user and in addition I've just received the correct sequence of codes for the D10 receivers which people seem to be having problems with.

As soon as I get some free time (very shortly) I will post an updated program.

Any chance this update might support my receiver? I've been successful with the perl script but I think cygwin has been acting up on occassion and doesn't execute correctly. I would much rather use your EXE.

I occassionally receive the infamous "Resource Temporarily Unavailable" error when I run the perl script. If I immediately try again it works and continues to work for a while but the problem eventually comes back. Seems to be some sort of timing issue.

Good News for people that have been having problems with the script. I got time to look into the program with a lot more detail. Based some information I got from a uer that gave me some good debug information.

I think I found the problem (at least for the D10 receiver folks). I've just sent that tester a copy of an alpha version.

If you are willing do some testing of this latest release please private message me and I will send you a copy.

I'm also going over the new wiki page to update that information to contain the information about the cables. For people that can not get their cable to work with either my program, dtvcontrol's program or the perl program. You may want to make sure that you are using a cable with my modifications.

So I've got good news back from people testing the alpha release. It looks like this latest version will support RCA, D10-100 and D10-200 receivers using either the new or old command set.

Another release will be available on wiki web page this weekend!

Just released the latest version. I've received initial testing results that indicate that it should now support RCA, D10100, and D10200 receivers using either the NEW or OLD command sets.

Also fixed the text display option, power on/off are no longer reversed, and some other minor enhancements.

Enjoy....
