Allright, im up and running again, and the encoder pass-through really does the trcik. however, it seems to degrade the quality of the video and made channel changing a little slower. Any thoughts?

Unfortunately this is normal. You're now going through the device's MPEG2 encoder, which adds about half a second to the process.

The Hauppauge MPEG2 encoder does a good job, but its never going to be quite as good as the original image. You could try editing the "LiveTV Quality" settings to change to variable bit rate and but bumping up the bitrate values.

That helps with the quality, but I coudlnt bump it up too much cause i dont think I have enough horsepower for that. Also, the quality could be realated to my mpeg dedcoder. I have an Intervideo decoder, An Intervideo non-css decoder, and an ATI MPEG decoder. Which should I use/What is a different that I could buy/download?

heres my specs again
-P4 2.6 Ghz
-Geforce FX 5200
-1024 PC3200 DDR Ram
-250GB total Hard Disk Space
