So, what do you say, Sub? Any chance for a "gbpvr -onlyUpdateEPGChanges" ?

No, I have no plans to do anything like this anytime soon.

Its been like this since the beginning of this project, and it'll probably stay this way. Sorry.

In most cases I dont have enough information about the shows in the EPG to ensure that after emptying the EPG, then reimporting, that same shows the user had originally scheduled could be rescheduled.

hmmm, it would be enough to check title and time. if the title changes or the time differs for lets say 10 minutes, it means, that the show isn't there. then it would be really cool, if gbpvr wouldn't record the show, since it would be wrong....

it's funny: when i do the "-onlyemptyEPG" "-onlyupdateEPG" - thing, the scheduled shows are still there. but i don't know, maybe, gbpvr ignores the emptyEPG when it is running...

Since I used to get the epg data from teletekst and not using the autoupdate function of GBPVR, that was the way of working for me:
  • empty epg (commandline)
  • create new xml file
  • update epg (commandline)

When not doing it this way, I would always get the same show several times as shifts of one to ten minutes were very common. The scheduled recordings remained intact (So sub, if it is a bug, rebadge it as a feature Wink ).
Now I use an xmltv grabber, I still use this process. It is a pity though, that scheduled recordings don't get updated.

Maybe, if sub is not changing the epg-update, a plugin could do the job: after epg-update check for conflicts. If the conflict is between two shows with the same name, update the schedule data. Or am I seeing this too simple?

Must warn you all, that title alone is not enough.
And title + time is also ambiguous.
Title + Subtitle are good, but not perfect.

What if you had unique-identifier(s) for them?

P.S. My XMLTV parser and "Uniquer" is close to being ready. I have a couple of minor bugs, but basically it's already showing promise.

I agree Title plus time are not enough. I have a lot of shows where I have to record manually by time slot because the guide has the wrong time and title. This is not the fault of the guide as all the guides (Zapit, Directv, TVGuide, etc) all show that information.
