after some further testing i was able to get some weird results.

If i choose composite video, the audio is fine, but no video.
if i choose Svideo 1, i get distorted audio, and no video.
if i choose Svideo2, i get ok audio but still no video!

I will add that i am using a PVR350 i bought in the USA. I had to perform a registry trick, see Enable Both NTSC and PAL recording for svideo/composite in

Is this something i would need to do with GBpvr?

Pretty much all the reading material exists either here at the board, or at http://www.gbpvr.com/pmwiki
Hope you find what you're looking for =)

Hi Stefan,

I have been reading through that wiki for the past few hours.

BTW can you feed a PAL signal into the Svideo input on your PVR350? Ifso, what settings do you have?

Thanks

Unless you have several devices that use the same driver on the computer, this should be #1. If you have several devices with the same driver, there is no way of knowing which one will be which but to try =)

Hm, I have the PAL version of the card. I know nothing about that registry tweak that you are referring to, but if it works in wintv2000 (have you got it to work there?) then I guess it should also work in gbpvr.

That said, I'm not sure exactly what type of input I'm using (yeah, I know, I should, but I don't). But the settings that work for me is "Composite 2, external tuner".

GLO Wrote:i will elaborate!

in the configuration screen i select 'add'
then name the sourece 'Foxtel'
then select 'direct recording plug-in'
then select 'none' for epg source
then 'no channel changer required'

then i go into 'settings' for the recording source
then choose 'PVR350'
country 'Australia'
Baord number 'Capture device #2' (not really sure how to determine which board #?)
Source 'S-video, external tuner'
Quality Profile Setting 'High Quality'

But i cant watch live TV or do a manual record at all.
The key step you're missing from my instructions earlier in the thread were "then manually create a channel called something like 'foxtel'"

Go back into the config app, edit your capture source, then click 'add' channel button. Give the new channel a name like 'foxtel' or 'svideo' or similar.

I have 2 devices, but they use different drivers. The PVR350 and the DVICO Fusion DVB-T1.

that helps, so i take it that you are feeding some source into the composite input then! Mine is quite similar but Svideo. Im not using the PVR350 tuner at all.

I did that also. That was the only time i was able to get any audio, after selecting 'Live TV' (i will add that i manually a channel for foxtel, and tried all of the different combinations, ie comp1, comp2,Svideo1, Svideo2, etc) and also created one for the DVICO dvb-T1 card but thats another thread.

If you're getting audio, then it sounds like that side of things is working fine. Missing video is possibly related to your video decoder or some other problem.

Just for fun, try using the tv-out on the pvr-350. If you get it to work, next step would be to disable tv-out again, and try with a bunch of different mpeg decoders.
