If the device is busy, look for other installed pvr software that might be using the stick at the time. If necessary, call up Task Manager with ctrl-alt-del and look through the processes. Most of them will look meaningless but you may recognise something as belonging to a pvr application.

Hi,

I have successfully managed to get my Freecom stick working with GBPVR- thanks for all the tips in this thread!

Has anyone managed to get 2x Freecom sticks working? I have an older stick that GBPVR detects as V2, but only works with the V1 setup (get a cannot initialise driver type msg + config crash when configuring as V2). I also have a new V3 stick- when I try and install this with the first (ID no 2), I get the driver initialisation error, followed by .net crash msg that kills off the config.

Has anyone else had this issue? I will post the error messages next time I am near my media PC.

BTW....I am a victim of the unexpected Vista RC1 MCE 31/12/06 expiry- I was going to buy the final version until this happened. Now that GBPVR works reliably with the Freecom, I am going to save my £££! Thanks for the excellent software.

Has anyone managed to get Vista x64 Drivers for this? I've got the Feb 2006 model and it won't recognise XP Drivers (WDM or BDA). I've emailed Freecom support and all they've said is the Vista and 64 bit support is "not available for some while yet..."

Sorry if this has already been mentioned because I have not read the whole thread, but freecom do provide bda drivers and you can download them from their own site. (which is where I got mine from.)

Hi there,

it appears I am having the same problem as user davidlandy (which never seemed to be resolved). I have read hundreds of posts about this, but not been able to find an answer.

I am having a real problem installing the freecom BDA drivers for my Freecom DVB-T (Art No.: 25452 Nov 2005). I am starting with a completely clean install of Windows XP but with all updates applied.

When I plug the stick in, it finds the hardware and I point it to the folder containing the drivers. This works fine and it tells me that the device has been installed correctly. However, it then comes back with a second "found new hardware" window. However this time when I select the folder containing the BDA drivers it cannot find the drivers it needs.

I have tried all kinds of things including waiting, removing and reinserting the stick, using another port etc. but to no avail.

I have no idea what's wrong - any ideas?

If you have installed the non-bda drivers, then you need to remove all traces of them before you install the bda drivers. I used the remove instructions both from the bda drivers and from the others before it was finally clear.

Then install the bda drivers and, when complete, plug in your freecom stick.

Hope this helps

Hi there ArtificialIntel2, thanks for your reply.

I have tried both following the instructions to remove all traces of the drivers, and a completely clean reformatted PC with only the BDA drivers. Always sticks at the second driver install.

I've tried plugging directly into the port, waiting, using another port, waiting more, and more waiting, none of which seems to work.

I've also tried

Contrary to what I've read in various places, the freecom driver zip file I downloaded doesn't contain pdf instructions or a driver removal utility. Could they have changed the drivers?

It's only a USB 1.0 port - could this be a problem?

I've just looked at the dates in the zip file and they are definitely newer than the version I've got - even though the file name (version number?) is the same.

I'm at work and the drivers are on my home machine (I think) although I bought the stick for my daughter's laptop which has since died. If I find them, I'll post the instructions as an attachment.

I found the instructions as pdf documents. Unfortunately can't attach as they're too big for the forum. They're in the drivers dated July 2006.

They basically say you have to unplug your Freecom stick and then run this program

“DVB-T uninstall"

which was in the zip file.

Once that's successful, you can re-insert your stick and it should re-discover. Don't let it search for the driver but browse to the bda driver directory.

Hope this helps. Sorry I couldn't upload the files for you.

Thanks very much for this.

Is there any chance you could e-mail me either just the drivers, or the drivers and the unintall program? I'm wondering whether the newer drivers don't work!

I've sent you my e-mail address in a private message.
