dhgb256 Wrote:No Biggie! Big Grin The log files are kept for 10 days, so they should still be in there. Please send them over to me. Then you can try the redownload thing again and see if it works for you.

Because of how the database update works you don't have to start from scratch, you can just run the database updater program.

Thanks!

Hi DH,
ok, so here's what happened. I ran the database builde exe and canceled out when i began to get errors. I started again and started to get errors again so, i canceled out again. Then, i decided to try to just let'er chunk away for as long as it took to complete. So, i let it run for 26 hours and it still appeared to be going.....100% CPE usage!

I then went to zip all the log files and there were over 1000 of them?!?!?

Well anyways, i attached a handful of them to the email i just sent to you. I'm happy to test again if you'd like. I'm still getting 100% CPE usage and seems like I get stuck in a black hole.

Let me know what you think. I can run it again if you need.

Thanks for all the help!Big Grin

YAY!!! Big Grin I found the problem!!! And I think I know how I can work around it. What I don't know is why it is happening, but I'm not sure it matters. Apparently at some point the msxml object that I am using to download the movie information is losing your cookie information, so it is returning the netflix standard webpage telling you that you need to login and enable cookies. That is why it is generating errors, because it is losing your movie info.

I THINK, I can work around this by clearing the cache when an error is found and using a webbrowser object as a backup to download the info (which is slower, but more stable). I am pretty confident that I can fix this now, so stay tuned for the next and hopefully final test version! Big Grin

Also, curiously, it appears that the errors consistently start with a movie that has no synopsis on the netflix site (Desert Trail). I am going to fix that and I wonder if that would be sufficient. Well I'm not chancing it, but very curious that the same movie starts the errors in all 4 log files you sent me

Hey Tisch,

Just a couple other questions as well. In your ini file, do you have Update Stars=true and view rated=false?

I just wanted to let you know that setting update stars=true makes the updates take 2.5 hours each time and what it does is goes out to the website and sees if any of your star ratings have changed for every movie. I would recommend keeping this off most of the time and just setting this to true 2x a year just to keep the star ratings up to date.

The view rated=false, this is personal preference and just won't download movies that you have rated on the netflix site. The reason I ask about this is, I saw your database update was only downloading ~6600 movies and if this is set to true then we have a problem, because it should be finding closer to 8200. I seriously doubt that you have rated 1600 instant watch movies on this website, so I am thinking that the same msxml problem might exist when downloading the list of movies. So please confirm these settings when you can.

Thanks!

Oh so close to getting this finshed!!! Big Grin

DH...

here's the contents for the ini file:
Open SGID=0
Time to renew=0
Default Font=18
Back Color=Black
Fore Color=White
Update Stars=True
Use Secondary Screen=False
Rated Viewable=True

I'm going to change the Update Stars to false.

Does this look normal?

Thanks!

Hi Tisch,

I guess when they upgraded the forum, they lost my last post. My answer was that yes, the ini file looks fine and it confirmed my suspicion that the cookie error existed while building the movie list. So hopefully this verison should fix everything. I actually had to undo several of my previous "fixes" because they actually made things worse! :o

Please run the attached file with a fresh database and let me know if any log files are generated. Hopefully not! Smile

I can't seem to attach files, so I e-mailed it to you.

We are 90% there, but at least it is working well enough right now for you to use it.

I still don't know why you are only seeing 6500 movies, there should be 8200 found. Also, if it ran into an error while looking for the movies, it should have generated an error log. I'll look into it when i get back in town on Friday. I think we at least pinned down the biggest issues. Smile

When I start netflix it will try to update or download but a times tamp error box pop up. I already erase and installed but i remain the movie ntf file on the folder.

Hi Kean,

Please zip the contents of your log folder and post here, so I can take a look. Also, if you can post the details of the time stamp error, it would help.

Thanks,

DH

Okay when I run Netflix TX Desktop. a Refresh Database? box will pop up but I will just click "No" and box will pop up again that says "Timestamp Is Invalid" and when I click okay. It goes to Installation status that downloads movie info and after a while the "Timestamp Is Invalid" box will appear and it will just repeat again when I click okay.Thanks.
and here's the log attached.

Hey Kean,

Thanks, unfortunately the log files aren't helping. Can you send me the exact wording of the time stamp error. Also, there should be a "details" button on the message box, can you click that and copy/paste that info in your next reply? If there isn't a details button let me know. A screen shot (press the "print screen" button and open paint and press "ctrl-V" to paste the screeen shot into paint, save as jpg) would be helpful as well.

Thanks!

ps. The next version may fix these issues, I am almost done with the code changes and should be posting it in a week or two. You may want to just go back to the previous version in the mean time.

pps. You might want to try the database builder in the next post and see if it solves your problem.
