Jeff Wrote:The reason is that you have 6 GB of free space but the plug-in is estimating the the scheduled recordings will require 59GB of space, which means that you won't have any free space left after recording them (that why it says Insufficient space). It only does the estimated for scheduled recordings for the recordings drive.

Jeff
MMmmmk, I see the logic. But shouldn't it tell me how much is left *and* tell me it's insuficcient??? I mean the information "insufficient" doesn't tell me how much I have to clear to make it fit...
I only know the information since my DVDs are stored on the same drive.

I've got two tuners, so can record two shows at once. The new version shows a conflict whenever I schedule two shows at once, even though I do have enough tuners. Is there any way to tell it how many tuners I have?

I've also noticed since updating to GBPVR 94.16 that VideoArchive sometimes can't find the description of recordings, even though XRecord and the main recordings plugin can. This happens with the latest VideoArchive and the previous version. Anyone else seeing this?

It should only show a conflict if the GBPVR database indicates the show is in conflict. As to descriptions, it should read them from the GBPVR database if it does not find them in its own. Would you mind zipping up your gbpvr and video archive databases, along with your gbprv.exe.log file and the log files in your jeff directory and emailing them to me at jefflmailbox-gbpvr at yahoo.com? I can then install your setup on my machine and see what is going on.

New update posted at http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/VideoArchive

From the release notes:

2006–01–07 :
  • Fixed the logic used to detect conflicts; they should now display correctly in the VA panel and the pending recordings list.
  • Adding a configuration property (set on the the display tab) to determine if shows have the leading “the” or “a” stripped from their name. The default is true.
  • When reading records from the archive database, if the show is found but it does not have a description, the plug-in will now check the GBPVR database to see if it has a description.
  • The description for folders now lists a summary of the folder’s contents.

Jeff,

I have a pretty large amount of recorded programs (more than 1TB...), spread over 5 large disks. It seems that VA is slowing my system down to a crawl in certain situations (this even creates bad and choppy video for the first minutes on recorded programs):
- whenever I start recording a new program, the GBPVR.exe process shoots up to take all CPU cycles for a minute or so
- when I delete a file on one of the archive drives, the same happens

It seems to me that this is caused by VA's monitoring function, which is looking out to update the database whenever there is a change on the archive drives. If I deinstall VA, then GBPVR is very quick and responsive again.

Is VA re-scanning all the archive drives whenever there is a change?

Is there a way to configure VA to not monitor real-time, or at least only re-scan the affected drive or better: just the affected directory?

Jeff,
Which articles are stripped from the file name in today's new release? Is this configurable in any way? I notice that some of my local language initial words are stripped erroneously ("Der")...

My guess is that some machines don't have Arial Narrow installed so windows picks another, wider, font in the same family, like plain Arial instead.

Jeff

Yes, your guess is correct. I've stopped using Arial Narrow because of this. I even modified the Weather skin, and that mod is probably in the collection distribution.

It is hardcoded to strip:

The, A, An, Le, Der, Die, Das

Next time I will make it configurable. For now if you don't like the choices, you can disable it in the config screen.

Any chances in the skin format? If so which skin.xml should I focus on since I am working ont he G-Guide II Video Archive right now. Also any why you just zip up zip file without setup.

If not... I'll have to use what you have... I need to know about the above though.

Thanks in advance...

No skin changes. For your second question, I don't maintain a zip format setup any more. I found it too much work. The only one I keep both formats for is the weather plug-in.
