Most popular skin?

hmmm the results are kind of surprising to me. I use XMEDIA LE after the upgrade DX and Platinum before that. How are people dealing with the fact that XMEDIA is the most comprehensive with respect to plugins? For instance, I would like to be able to use two or more skins depending on my mood but I can't because the other skins don't support the same set of plugins.

I just tried to use CountourHC but it's not complete yet...no shutdown for instance and I don't feel that it's very coherent with respect to all the plugins. Mind you I really like the main panel, really snazzy and eye catching. It's got great things in the future.

That said, I like how I can usually just copy a plugin skin from one theme to another - most of the time.

The Collection is not the most used skin and I don't expect it to be. But there are some people that use it and this poll gives me an indication of the user base.

I like this poll, and would like to see it done periodically.

I have to admit that although I dont use his skins, my hat goes off to tipstir with the amount of work he must put into them, for very little gratitude.

Why not try and help out these poor skinners folks, if you like a skin but it doesn't have the plugin you want then try and skin it yourself and share it with the rest of us

Correct me if I'm wrong, but between Gguide, GX media and Xmedia, Tipstir's skins still have 20 votes, so they're on part with BlueMCE2 and Contour, it seems...

Agree with all of this. Different skins appeal to different people.

This is why I started the poll. Starting to make skins for UK Cinema Listings and wanted to know the order in which I should do them (ie most -> least used).

It should also be said that if plugin designers follow a standard template for text names, colors, button styles and placements, etc, skins could natively support all current and future plugins. But most of the time, with the exception of Tipstir, the skins are designed for the plugins the designer uses and relies on the community to help skin the others that he/she does/cannot use. Getting the main menu skinned so it looks attractive is pretty easy, but then getting all of the various plugins to work with that style is what is difficult and VERY time consuming. Fortunatly, I've been blessed to have the help of a few members make Contour as successful as it has been.

I'm using the MCE2 skin right now, but I love what Old Dog is doing with the Collection.

I see a lot of cool things coming up soon though. I can't wait to try Funky Green and the horizontal menu in olbia.

I wish I could play with the settings and skins on my system more, but now that I have it installed and in use, my wife would probably skin me if I took it away.

Wow... GBPVR without Tipstir? I have not always agreed with all he said, but he was always thought provoking and working his rear end off for all of us. He really helped push the cause forward. My hat is off to him. Thanks for all the help!
