What might be handy is to use syndicate/rss type links to pull certain data out of the wiki and display it on the gbpvr homepage. This way as long as the wiki is kept up to date, the homepage will be too. All of the commonly asked questions should be put out there like Blader put in the first post. I don't think that would detract at all from the software.

I believe it degrades the initial impression of a product when the site's pages don't follow a common theme. For example, to have a link that says "click here to see a list of supported cards" and you're taken to the wiki which has very little in common with the 'look' to the homepage other than the logo just doesn't sit well with me.

Just my two cents.

I agree with you Torque
When I find a homepage with a software I want to know the features and see some screenshots. Not spending hours and hours of finding out by searching in forums and wikis. I like finding facts fast. I find them now by looking in the INI files

Added more fact about supported decoders in first post
Best Regards

As a potential new user, the list was a good starting point and it gave me the impression that the fireDTV s/ci was supported. Later I found out that a CI is not supported (only FTA channel, no payTV). I think it would be fair to mention also what it does not (yet) do. Maybe that and a list of work in progress or planned.
BTW I feel that the lack of support for CI is a major shortcoming. Because of this it is rather useless for whole countries (like Holland, Belgium and I think also for Scandinavie)

Thanks for the feedback I will take a note of that in the list.
Doesn't the FireDTV come with any TV software that supports CI ?

I agree. As much as I'd like to use gbpvr, its doesnt support the CI module for my Twinhan card so I'm forced to look elsewhere (media portal). I'm sure thats the case for many European users.

Yes, it does. It is MyTheatre. However that has no support for MediaMVP which is a must for me. So please let someone do something....

By the way. I would liek to get more input on MVP and Web scheduler to that list. I don't use those features.
Large parts of my 40GB MP3 collection are untagged, so I havent found a MusicPlugin that works OK for me. Either they are to slow or the dont show file names if tags are missing.
MusicLibrary2 take minutes to start, so much disk activity before anything is shown on screen.
MusicPlayer is to slow. Long responce times when viewing files
My Music dont show file names if tags are missing, so I cnt slect song
MusicAlbum2 cant handle music files on another partition. Cant use at all-
So much work the programmers have put into the Music plugins and missed basic stuff in my eyes.
I will continue to use my old eJay player.

I also would se a pro and con summary of plugins as a newbie
Best Regards

I understand the thread that was started to find a new default skin created a lot of headaches, so i dont want to start a competition, more a visual aid to the discussion so far..! I thought perhaps some creative people could post some mocked up website designs to show more clearly their ideas and it might help us decide how best to categorise information and decide what belongs on the Wiki and what belongs on the mainpage.

Also with regard to XMLTV data could a link to birtles grabber be included for UK/Isreali users: http://www.birtles.org.uk/xmltv/ (also grabs Bleb listings and stitches them to the XMLTV to give radio channels)

Another thing i saw which i liked was on BYOPVR.com where users submitted a table of their system specs and then rated that system and added comments so others can see issues or benefits of various setups?
