Thanks bluesxman,
will the -OnlyEmptyEpg switch delete the pending scheduled recordings?

Just to report that I had exactly the same as reported here and "fixed" it by emptying the recordings table using access.

For me, it was an episode of Green Wing that I had scheduled, possibly both manually and also via repeat recordings, not too sure.

I've never had any trouble with it - I also tend not to have any recordings scheduled around the time of my EPG update. Might be worth you backing up your gbpvr.mdb and having an experiment!

Thanks again for the tip!
I scheduled a one-time recording this evening, then ran "gbpvr -OnlyEmptyEpg” followed by “gbpvr –OnlyUpdateEPG” .The scheduled show survived the epg reload just fine. Smile

The only listings that still had the overlap problem (after the complete update) were pre-scheduled ones where the listing times changed slightly.
I can live with that now the epg is updating completely.

Was there ever a resolution to this? I'm getting this behaviour, admittedly with only a couple of programs.

I think what's happened is that the TV listings have changed since they were first recorded, but GB-PVR is not noticing the clash & removing the older listings, it's just adding the new stuff, leading to overlap. I suspect that I'm seeing it because I'm using the XMLTV import stuff with 14-day listings, which quite often change slightly nearer the time.

I was seeing this a lot recently (in the UK) so I modified the batch file that downloads and updates my epg to empty epg before reloading it. This appears to have fixed it for me but I'm still not sure whether this will correct a scheduled show who's time has been changed.

"C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\GBPVR.exe" -OnlyEmptyEPG
"C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\GBPVR.exe" -OnlyUpdateEPG

This runs the same logic as ticking the 'complete epg reload' option.

I thought that ticking the "complete EPG reload" option would probably clear the EPG and re-load it but it didn't get rid of the overlaps I was seeing, although I just used the Update EPG in the tuner configuration to reload it, so perhaps it doesn't apply there?

The other thing about these overlaps is that they were for scheduled recordings (part of a series). I had a problem once before where I'd got several "series" recordings scheduled, which came up with times 00:00 01/01/0001, which were un-deletable, and which Empty EPG didn't get rid of.

Could there be a problem updating/deleting EPG entries for programs which are part of a recording, or something of that sort? Might any of the logs provide a clue as to what's up?

It wont delete one-off scheduled recordings. It'll only remove and reschedule season recordings episodes (and all the other shows not related to a one-off recording).

I just tried this experiment:

modifed epg.xml and increased start time of upcoming show by 5mins.
updated epg via gbpvrtray (complete epg reload set in config)
tvguide shows "overlapping" entry. i.e. one 5 mins long followed by the full show.

ran

"C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\GBPVR.exe" -OnlyEmptyEPG
"C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\GBPVR.exe" -OnlyUpdateEPG

overlapping entry is still there in the guide but now no show name appears inside the 5min segment.
