Hello Tim,

I just would like to thank you for this great plugin, I have been playing around for nearly half a year now, e.g. trying to stream to harddisk first using ProgDVB and then multiplex the stream using VLC, after this sending it back to the external recorder plugin. All of this did not really work and all of this only to get my SS2 card somehow up and running with GBPVR. So after all a very big THANKS ! for this (at least for me) perfectly working plugin.

The last bit I miss is really a MD plugin interface (ProgDVB has this), that would allow me to record ORF here in Germany). I can view ORF here (cable), but have no possibility to record shows digitally. If you already have a Win32 DLL attached to the drivers I would not consider this to be too complicated. After all the MD sources are available on the net. Btw. are you considering to go open source ?
I would not care too much about automatic channel scanning, after all you just do it once and after this only now and then, when something changes.

So thank you again

Glad the SS2Recorder is useful. I haven't had much time to do any more development, but the MD plugin interface is something that a few people have requested, so I could make that one of the next things to look at (after full .NET integration). Do you have a URL for the "MD sources" you mentioned (or any other documentation about the MD plugin interfaces)?

Before making this plugin, I had some success calling ProgDVB with ExternalRecorder (without the need for VLC); if you run ProgDVB /? from the command prompt, it gives you a list of the command line switches you can specify to select the channel and recording file name. Sorry I don't have access to the specific parameters at the moment- waiting for Norman to produce the .NET 2.0 version!
Cheerio,

Hi Tim,

I couldn't get my SkyStar2 to work with the new v0.97.7 release. The card is no longer showing up in the "Recording Source". I have tried to copy the files again and have run the reg.bat ... but no joy. Any ideas?

Have you updated to the latest version of the plugin?

If you need to update make sure you don't overwrite your SS2Channels.txt file!

Thanks Tim,

should have checked first ... with the latest SS2Recorder_0_3_1 everything is nearly back to normal. TV works fine but each time exiting GBPVR I see now a Windows Error "gbpvr.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close ..."

Since this is only happening on exiting GBPVR it's minor to me ... just wanted to share with the community.

Cheers, Ulrich

erm...not really sure about this. Does the Application log in Windows event viewer give any more information about the error?

Tim,

concerning the MD plugin, the documentation seems to be a bit poor.
The last open version of multidec is 8.5 and can be found e.g. on

http://www.dvbsoft.net/download.php?view.362

However even the 9.x version contain a zip file called MDExtern that gives the framework for a plugin.

Even though I am a programmer I have never played around with the Technotrend API so I do not know about the complexity of this issue.

Concerning your hints about ProgDVB, I know about command the line switches and had configured the external recorder plugin approriateley. However there was no reasonable way to get it to work neither. I experienced crashes of the plugin and most disturbing stuttering of the video. So I am very pleased your SS2Recorder came along, just before considering to dig into Dot.Net myself.

yes, its been a great plugin for me too. I use it to watch the FTA channels on Astra 2D (sky).

One thing to be wary of, is some channels have a habit of changing there PID etc, ITV3/4 and Perfomance are the more common ones i have found. I can live with it though.

If Tim was looking for feature requests ,the thing i'd really like to get working is the Radio, this way i'd be able to listen to BBC5 live etc, at the moment i switch off gbpvr and run progdvb to get the radio
Intel P4 2500 mhz, 1.25G Ram, XP Home SP2, Maxtor 30Gb and WD 200gb drives, PVR-500MCE, DM500s, dboxrecorder, GBPVR 1.2.9, 2 x wired MVP,

Timh,

This is a wonderful plugin.
Only thing I am missing is support for MDAPI plugins.
Take a look at:

http://dvbn.happysat.org/viewtopic.php?t...ddcca45609

this guy is working on generic MDAPI plugins enabler.
It seems that small modifications were required for Mediaportal.
He claims that any applications can be made MDAPI compatible.
