I sounds like it's a little bit of each. Smile

i feel your pain about the OSD, since i really don't use GBpvr for TV viewing, only music and recordings playback, Moving the Homeseer plugin to the first positon was a pretty easy thing to do, since i've never brought up the TV guide in OSD. I suspect it's more of a problem with your STB and what it needs.. There may be a way to map unused keys for things but it'll take someone with more experience than I to help you with that part.

As for the way the buttons operate

setup correctly they should roll around both left to right and up and down. Meaning that if you are at the left most button and you have say 5 buttons as you go past the 5th button it should come around to the first button in the same row again. Same thing for up and down.

Does it not work this way for you? How many events do you have setup in the config.xml?

jsteele Wrote:Yes, it works fine from a functionality stantpoint. The interaction is nuts thought :-) I can't get the OSD while the TV is running so I have to get to the menu. Then I can select Homeseer and the button array comes up. Using the Up/Down/Left/Right results in the button array going away and something that looks like its supposed to be the OSD, a single row of buttons at the bottom of a blank screen. Then I can navigate to the button I want (the second button row will appear if I press the Down key :-)

A bit quirky but at least the functionality is there. Now all I have to do is sort out the interface management :-)

PS, in my configuration (emulated keyboard) I suspect that the "0+Go" is not actually functioning that way --- I suspect its ignoring the "0". The reason i say that is that any other digit + Go does not go the the "Framed LiveTV/Menu" screen but rather to the channel. Looks to me like the emulated keyboard interaction is somewhat different than the native remote interaction.

It would be nice if there was a way to define keys to launch user-defined functions. For example, my remote has "*" and "#". The remote "*" is mapped to keyboard "F7" as I recall to allow aspect ratio changes. The "#" is unused but it would be nice if there were some way to map that to a specific GBPVR function/plugin. In my case I'd map the remote "#" to some keyboard function that would dispatch the Homeseer plugin. I realize this is a GBPVR matter and not a Plugin problem.

Right now I have only six events enabled, three sets of lights on/off. When the button array first appears I get two columns on the left margin, one column of 5 and one column of 2 (including a Main Menu button). As I say, any attempt at navigation results in what appears should be the OSD: it clears the screen and places one row of four buttons at the bottom of the screen. At this point I can navigate around the buttons and if I move down the row is replaced by a row of two buttons (no Main Menu button this time :-). These buttons work as intended.

As I said its a bit clunky from an interface standpoint but it does work. I don't know enough about the GBPVR skinning to jump in and fix it without a learning curve to figure out the skinning and right now I don't have time for that.

Thanks again for the informition though ;-)

If you can hang on a day or two i'll see if i can whip up a 6 event skin for you. When you set up events, weather they are working or there for future additions it's always best to keep it even, remembering that the Menu button will be one of them. That's why i set up 19 events, so it would have an even 20 on the screen. things get weird when they are uneven, as in 6 events and the main menu buton making it 7. The Plugin shows and works better with even numbers of buttons, one row of 6, two rows of 5, etc. Dave had to use a special button handler to allow lots of buttons on the screen at once and not have to keep scrolling down to find the event you wanted. This way you can have them all visable at one time.

Thanks, I appreciate it. From there maybe I can figure out the pattern and deal with it myself later

John

I had a few minutes this afternoon so here is a contour skin that supports up to 8 buttons, 7 events and the Main Menu button. I've included the original 20 button skin renamed within the zip in case you expand your events at some point. Let me know how you make out.

Both skins included have some updates to fonts and positions to make it more in line with the rest of the skin.

Torque if you happen to read this thread feel free to replace the current Homeseer skin with this one, It has two skins within, one for 20 buttons and another for 8 buttons, skin 8 button.xml and skin 20 button.xml. The skin.xml is the 8 button version. To activate the 20 button skin you just rename skin 20 button.xml to skin.xml

Works great! Thanks.
On exiting from the button array I still get the pseudo-OSD but I suspect that is a consequence of the OSD not being triggered correctly. I'll work on that.

Yea, sorry about that one. Not a lot I can do about it just now. It could very well have to do with that or just be a glitch in the plug when running on GBpvr 97.xx versons. I've not been able to fully test it with that yet. Maybe the next version will allow me to upgrade and do better.

At any rate i'm glad it worked out for you.

FYI, I removed the videoplugin setting for the OSD and the problem went away:
<VideoPlugin0>TV Guide</VideoPlugin0>
<VideoPlugin1>ProcAmp</VideoPlugin1>
<VideoPlugin2>OSD Menu</VideoPlugin2>
<VideoPlugin3>Live Guide</VideoPlugin3>
<VideoPlugin4>Homeseer</VideoPlugin4> <<--- removed this

For now i think you'll just have to remember to dim the lights before you start the movie, instead of during. Smile
