I should also clarify something. If I select the .dvd file and press enter on the remote, the screen goes black and nothing else happens. Then I can press "back" to return to the menu. Here is the log file from when I do this:

9/21/2006 11:02:27 PM.843 VERBOSE [1] controller.OnMouseDown()
9/21/2006 11:02:28 PM.015 VERBOSE [1] About to play DVD volume: \\Tera\share\Movies\Cool Runnings\
9/21/2006 11:02:28 PM.015 VERBOSE [1] After PlayDVD()
9/21/2006 11:02:28 PM.406 VERBOSE [1] Playback started: \\Tera\share\Movies\Cool Runnings\
9/21/2006 11:02:28 PM.406 VERBOSE [1] getValue cached value: /settings/RememberProcAmpSettings : true
9/21/2006 11:02:28 PM.484 VERBOSE [1] Checking if resume prompt needs to be shown
9/21/2006 11:02:28 PM.484 VERBOSE [1] PlaybackPositionManager.getLastPlaybackPosition()

Now when I select the .dvd file and then slide over on the screen and press select on the remote while I am over the play button I get the following:

9/21/2006 10:57:01 PM.093 ERROR [1] Error: msg=0x202 (WM_LBUTTONUP) hwnd=0x101f6 wparam=0x0 lparam=0x49004b result=0x0 : System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

My guess is that the Object reference not set to an instance of an object is an error because the .dvd file does not really exist. (Bug? Can anyone reproduce this?) My real problem is that when I try to play I get a black screen.

Let me know if you need more log files and I can post them.

Zip and attach the gbpvr.exe.log and gbpvr.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.

Can you try it with the keyboard instead of the mouse to see if it makes any difference?

If I use the keyboard I still get the error when I hit enter on the play button.

OK, I know what is happening when you hit the play button on the left, and I've fixed it for the next build. (same thing happened for me when I had a .dvd file selected on the right)

What happens when you either double click on the .dvd file on the right, or press 'enter' on it? For me it plays the DVD.

I tried it with several different DVD's, that are in folders. When ever I click on these (or hit enter) I just get a black screen. I've let it set for a minute or two but nothing ever comes up. Then when I hit escape on the keyboard I go back to the menu.

I also have a couple of movies that are not in a Video_TS folder. On these files I have tried to play a VOB but I get an -Error - Failure Playing Back File

I have one file on there that is a mpg. I can play it. I have another file that is divx. I can't play that because I don't have any codecs loaded for divx.

I don't have any software loaded to play DVD's as this computer is a dedicated computer for GBPVR.

Hope this gives you some clues. Thanks again for taking a look at this. This is a great program! I don't know where you find the time for all this... Smile

Can you give the logs showing this? The previous logs only show the issue discussed above.

This will most likely be your problem. You need to have some DVD software installed. GB-PVR doesnt install any DVD capable MPEG2 decoders. You need to install this yourself

You should select these on the 'DVD & Remote' tab of the config app. If you only have the 'system default' option listed, then thats a pretty good sign you dont have a DVD capable decoder installed.

Ok here is an update.

I installed PowerDVD 7, but was unable to get anything but System Default in the video decoder section. So I uninstalled Version 7 and installed Version 6 and now I can select CyberLink Video/SP Decoder. (Something must be different on the new version of PowerDVD.)

However, I still have the same problem. When I try to play something I just get a black screen. Here are the log files again after I tried to play a couple of DVD files.

Ah, you're using the TV out on a PVR350. Sorry, but you're not going to get any DVD playback. There is no way to play DVDs on the PVR350.
