I'm experiencing the same problem, LiveTV freezes between shows, but can be fixed by changing the channel or going to the menu.

Is it possible for someone to post a new link to the blank.mpg file? The link seems to be broken.

Thanks!

The black.mpg only related to the PVR350, and included in the current release (v0.23.13) and the previous release (v0.23.11). The black.mpg problem related to 100% CPU being used when viewing via a PVR350.

Krass, you could try increasing the Live TV Pre Play Delay in the config app. Bump it up to a big number and see if it helps.

Thanks Sub! Maybe I should have posted my system config before. I will download the latest. I believe that I had just installed 2311, I'll try to keep ya posted on the results.

BTW: Great work on the app!!!

sub,

I've had the similiar problem now, I had started the thread on the sound dropping out with version 2311, but this thread now seems more appropriate as it's locking up more than the sound dropping out.

Here is the latest example of what it has done just this morning.  I let it run on Live TV all night long.  When I woke up, my TV was frozen on "show1".  I went to the computer, and hit home a couple of times, which was a little unresponsive, and it came back to the menu and then I hit exit.  I went to my LiveTV directory to see what was going on.  There were two files in there, "show1_date&timeinfo" weighing in at 675,034 KB, and "show2_date&timeinfo" at 0 KB.  I got a pencil and paper to write the two files down, and after I had, I looked back up, and they were gone.  I hadn't deleted them, but the system must have been working on deleting them and finally got around to it.

Would there be a way as an option to go back to the old way GB-PVR used to display LiveTV and still keep the timeshifting.  This new way where it starts a new file whenever you change channels, or the show is over seems to be the root of the problem for everyone with the lockups and sound drops.  Would it be possible to use the old way and just have a %full buffer as before.  Personally, even when it works, the new way doesn't benefit me to my knowledge as I use my cable box remote to change channels most of the time as I use it for the Guide, Search, PPV and especially the Favorites feature.  By switching channels with the cable box remote, GB-PVR and what I'm really watching don't usually match up, and I get the "new show stutter" in the middle of watching something else, as I'm on a different channel that I didn't change through GB-PVR, but through my fixed channel cable box.

Nope. We're not going back.

Did you try increasing the livetv pre-play delay?

Glad to hear its going well for you. It can be a challenge using larger fonts in the TV guide since there's not much space to work with. In the tvguide\skin.xml you can also reduce the number of channels, and increase the size of each row.

[b Wrote:Quote[/b] ]As for the MVP Screen Size on TV when using GB-PVR the default is 640 x 500 to fit on my sets here I needed 640 x 400.
Yes, this is because I'm in PAL land where TVs have 576 lines. I cant tell automatically what the user's tv standard is, so I go with the settings that work best for me.

Unfortunately all TVs are different, and your 640x400 will off the side of some one else's NTSC TV. The defaults work well for many people, and they can be easily changed.

GB-PVR will automatically download icons for bleb or XMLTV (if the specific XMLTV file contains the channel icon url, which it normally does). Zap2it doesn't supply channel icons, so you'll need to arrange this youself. Just save the icons in the gbpvr\media\ChannelLogo directory with the same name as channel + the extension .jpg/.gif/.png. A good place to find them is www.satlogo.com

sub,

I'll change the delay and see if that helps, I'll be watching football for the next few hours, so I won't be able to tell for awhile if it helps. I did just experience it and I did an experiment with some interesting results.

I was watching Fox Pre-Game Sunday, which ends at 12:00 noon, at 12:00, the audio/video froze. I checked my LiveTV directory, and both the Fox Pre-Game Sunday file was in there, and not changing in size when I hit refresh in my browser. There was also the new file, NFL Football which was increasing in size. I then knew that GB-PVR was stuck on the last file, but was still recording the new file. Rather than exiting and restarting like I normally would, I hit the button to bring up the progress bar(I forgot what button it is on the Hauppauge remote, I remapped it a universal) and the title bar OSD does come up, and the progress bar is there and still counting. The show length was 1:00:00 and the green bar was all the way to the 1:00:00 mark (full). On the left of the progress bar, where it shows the current position in time, it was past 1:00:00 and increasing in time. I waited around a minute to see if it would goto the new file and it did not. I then hit the rewind(reverse skip 30sec.) and it switched to the new file, 30 seconds rewound, which I could then fast forward to "real" time. I don't know if that helps any.

I changed the pre-play delay from 200 to 400 and that it didn't lockup at the end of programs for the afternoon, but while watching TV I used the timeshifting a couple of times, pausing for a couple of minutes and then skipping forward during commercial breaks to catch up to real time. Each time, after a couple of forward skips, the video would go black and lockup, once it locked up the computer completely and I had to cold boot.

The new Hauupauge drivers with GB-PVR 227 was the first stable system I've had since I bought the 350 card, I'm going back to 227 for now.

Sub -

Just thought I'd update ya.

Upgraded to 2313 and increased the LiveTV Pre-Play Delay to "5000". I figured that was a high enough number. So far I've only had a few LiveTV delays, most towards the end of a show, and only lasted about five seconds, give or take a couple seconds.

I wanted to thank you for GB-PVR. I've had this system since late Febuary, early March, and had purchased SageTV with the understanding that it was stable and worked flawlessly with the Hauppauge cards. Boy was I wrong, long story short, I've been trying to get this system stable, and havn't been able to do so until now. I would recommend GB-PVR to anyone looking for a well supported PVR application that performs as advertised!

Thanks again!
