sub Wrote:I've just moved www.gbpvr.com and wiki to our new dedicated server hosting. You may noticed some downtime until your cached DNS entries for the old server expire. I can see from the logs that quite a few users have already made their way to the new server, even though its only been switched on for a few minutes.

The new server is fully dedicated$$$, so no more sharing CPU and other resources with other hosting customers. Hopefully this should give the much needed performance boost for the wiki.

Please let me know if you notice anything odd.

It could be just me because I am not confident in my downloading skills, but when I try to download the new version of gbpvr, the text of the download appears on the screen and I get a message that says transferring from gbpvr.com and then hangs. What I did from the home page was click on download and that's when I got a screen of text that looks like the inner workings of the program rather than a screen that displays the things that could be downloaded

It seems to me that the downloads that use php e.g: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Skin/AdvisorSkin?action=downloadman&upname=Advisor_v2.8.zip are having problems. The other ones seem ok e.g: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/uploads/Skin/hmvp_2020.zip

Yeah, annoyingly there is still something strange going on. The server upgrade and new version of the wiki software did not solve the problem. I'm pretty sure the problem relates to the pmwiki software, and specifically its .flock file - but I'm not an expert in this software so I'm having to trawl through their mailing list archives to see if I can find a reason.

The web server upgrade was required anyway, because soon we'll moving the forums to the same server - obviously I'll want to get this wiki problem sorted out before then.

Ok...here are two items....

I no longer have the ability to delete one of my postings....I was actually able to double post (which it used to prevent you from doing that) an item in the Community Announcement section for the new EWA release. Went into edit mode and there is not an option to delete the posting. sub....you can removed one of the postings.

On the wiki.....when I log in to edit anything I get an inssuficient access message....but if I click on edit again I can see the page code to update....but I can't do a preview.....and when I save I get the same message and can not see the changes....but they are applied.

Screen shot of message after saving a wiki update:

Weird, the edit-button is gone now:o

I wanted to edit the post before, to add that downloading from the wiki is still crippled.

Nothing has actually changed with the forums - it's still running on the same old server its run on the for the last year or so. These server changes only affected the homepage at www.gbpvr.com, the wiki and the install downloads. http://forums.gbpvr.com is an entirely different server.

Did you upgrade the Forum software? I now see a spell check option when editing....never saw that before.
