yes it uses a special cable, you have to order it from nintendo, or wait until the middle of december.

the wii was never made out to be even close to 360 or ps3 in graphics, and as nintendo said, they focused on innovating gameplay not making pretty (boring) games. there are exceptions such as gears of war.

Not aimed at you, just a general comment - Every time I see this specific point mentioned about the 360/PS3 vs Wii, I keep thinking "does having flashy HD graphics preclude having an innovative cool game? I'm guessing a game can have both". To me it just sounds like another tool a company can use (or not) when making their cool innovative game...

One thing that is new to me is the phenomemononononon of "HD-Lag", which is the results of playing 480i games on HD tv's.

agreed, as I said above, Gears of war is a great game that is really fun, has some awesome gameplay and looks absolutely amazing (thank you unreal engine 3Smile) however, alot of companies push their games out the door too quickly, so theyre buggy, or focus too heavily on graphics and neglect the actual gameplay to save dev costs. which could be cited as a detractor to the "HD" gaming era, it costs more to develop the game.. so they say.. except they have been making high res games for PC forever.... so go figure. maybe they just need to figure out how the processors work. speaking of, I hear its a pain to write code for the cell's SPEs.

oh an throw dead rising in there on the list of really fun 360 games.

Side note. if anyone has a wii and wants to exchange wii numbers pm meSmile

This is why I still play games like the original Pirates! on my PC.
And still use emulators & dosbox to play some ancient dos games on my XP system.

I've never owned a console so i'm ignorant of their abilities & don't follow the scene.
I just assumed the next gen would push more polygons like PC games.
Guess I was wrong.

meh, debatable, they are certainly powerful. but the whole thing with PC games is the billions of different hardware combinations that the game could run on, from the minimum config to the AMD 4x4 platform. and when you get up to the top end, you will be pushing more polygons than a next gen console, especially with dual GPU setups.

this is a sign of growing olderBig Grin I'm quite sure the games were better 'in my day' - i'm getting right into my 8 and 16bit emulators at the moment....

I'd love to go back in time and show myself £400 worth of Amiga hardware being emulated perfectly on a handheld PSP, especially with a gig of 'free' (cough, cough) software on a memory card the size of a postage stamp.

My god.
With the exception of owning a PSP (I used an old P3 laptop). I can say almost the same thing.
But when I had that Amiga it blew the doors of my buddies 286.
Especially in the game Eye of the beholder.

I am getting old.

Actually It's really the fact that now that i'm married with a kid, a house, & 2 dogs I don't have the time to invest to learn a new game.

It's much easier to fire up my laptop & play Heart of Africa or M.U.L.E. on a c64 emulator for a few hrs then try to get back into the Balder's Gate or Deungeon Siege save game's i've been working on for the last 3 yrs.Smile

so on the subject of fun games

zomg, saw rayman raving rabbits last night, the game is sick in the head, however extremley fun. no learning curve as there are soooo many minigames, its like warioware but... well not. I cant really explain all the games but in some you have to slap the bunnies in the choir who sing off key, another you well um... pump juice with the nunchuck and squirt it at rabbits with the wiimote... it looks so wrong, however its hilarious

That is all.
