Sub,

Are you able to comment on my last question please?

"Also noticed that if I do an update to an existing recording and change the channel, the Name Prefix which always identifies the channel doesnt change. (e.g. Name Prefix says BBC1 but the channel is ITV1). Is that by design?"

Thanks

Bobins, I had the same symptoms as yourself for a few days after updating to the latest version. Event Viewer even logged the same Event ID as in your post #4. I couldnt say what it was or what exactly fixed it, but i ran windows/microsoft update and this fixed the problem. Id disabled the auto updates in the past so i could control when the updates took place, but hadnt done it for ages so there was an absolute rake of updates that were downloaded. Perhaps you should check you're fully up to date with the latest Windows Updates and see if it sorts your problem too?

The name prefix only updates automatically if it hasnt been set (ie, its blank). After you've saved it, then it has been set (to BBC1_ or some named you've typed in), so in this respect it is working as designed.

Thanks Sub,

I'm still tearing my hair out with the recording service crash. Having stressed the service as much as possible, I couldn't get it to crash.

Leave it alone to record a programme at midnight, and it exits. The only entry in the windows event log is the one that says the service exited. I've now set the service to auto-restart and it does that and resumes the recording (after 1 minute).

There is absolutely nothing in the GBPVR logs. The logs just close at the point the service exits and new ones are created when the service restarts.

Is there anyway to increase the logging (set to debug at the moment) to try and understand why the service exits?

The PC is an AMD XP64 4800 with Windows XP SP2 patched with all the latest patches. (Set to download updates but manual install). It's dedicated to GBPVR and runs nothing else.

You could try setting the following registry setting:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Devnz\LogPsiProcessing=2

Then do a recording that reproduces the crash, then zip and attach the c:\psi.log file (assuming it zips up to under a 1MB). Hopefully it'll contains some clues.

Afterwards delete this registry key.

Gentlemen, I think I am seeing a similar thing, maybe even the exact same thing (need to check the logs to see for sure). But basically some reoccurring recordings will stop early, I am not sure if GBPVR stopped them or the recording service crashed, since they are playable until they run out (1:02hr recording may only go 7 minutes, 36 minute etc). Wife is getting upset, which you all may know, does not bode well for me.... I will try to capture the logs as Bobins was doing and see if they look the same. Regards, Pete

Pgroudas. Yep in my case the recordings are intact and playable upto the point in time where the recording service exits. Typically I'll get about 10 minutes of a 35 minute recording.
With the expection of the entry in the Windows event log saying the service has stopped unexpetadly, there are no other errors showing up.

I've set the service to auto-restart and it does that and continues the recording with about 1.5 minutes loss of the recording (you end up with two recorded files of course)

Greetings,

I have been using gbpvr for a month or so and it was working ok...upgraded to current version and it worked ok, but now I am having the following problem: it seems to have stopped recording shows. Scheduled recordings don't show up in the list, or in windows explorer. I tried to start a recording manually and it repored that it was recording, but nothing showed up. I got a an empty folder with the name of the show. Any thoughts?
How do I troubleshoot this?
I tried exiting the program, and the tray icon was green and it reported that it was recording when I selected 'status'.
hard drive has 11 gb free.

Thanks,
Howard (totaly noob!)

This doesnt sounds like the rest of this thread, so probably not a good place to post it. Maybe this: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=1...ostcount=7

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.
