I checked recently again - what happens is that Auto stretches my Live TV (SD) to full wide-screen, which is a bummer, so I have to change aspects all the time manually (Pillar box for Live TV/recording, Auto for anything else).
* Rogers Analog Cable [Canada]
* Hauppauge WintTV PVR USB2
* IBM Thinkpad T42 / 1GB Mem / Centrino 1.6Ghz / 60GB HD / ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 + VGA/DVI out
* MCE Remote + Keyboard
* Win XP SP2 / GBPVR [Latest version. always]
* Pioneer HDTV via VGA (1360x768)
* MS Remote Keyboard
* Logitech Harmony 880 [via MS Remote Control Reciever]

I have the same problem of having to press F7 to fix the aspect ratio every time I play a video file. I'm using the Cyberlink decoder. I uninstalled FFDshow, and the problem persists. Is there any way to disable aspect ratio correction on the Cyberlink decoder so that GBPVR displays it correctly without having to press F7 every time?

Thanks dreamscape. I've since assigned this to a button as well, but I was wondering if everyone using Cyberlink was fiddling with the aspect ratio with every video watched, or if it was just me.

I'm not actually using cyberlink, but i do have to change the AR of every video I watch. It's obnoxious, but I suppose there are worse things that could happen

You sure you dont have something like ffdshow or similar in there causing this?

i believe a few posts back (in this thread) you established that it was indeed ffdshow that was my problem. however i don't see any settings or any way to change it, and changing my decoder through the config app doesn't really help.

I tried uninstalling FFDshow completely, and still have the aspect ratio problem. Currently, I use FFDshow for audio processing and some of the video codecs (xvid, etc), but do not use it for post processing (GBPVR unchecked) or mpeg-2 processing/decoding. Even when watching an mpeg-2 file (recorded tv or DVD), I have the aspect ratio problem. I can confirm that the FFDshow video icon isn't displayed in this case, as it is when playing an xvid file. In any case, FFDshow should be ruled out, as even uninstalling it doesn't help with the aspect ratio problem.

ok - if it still happens for you after the next release, then remind me and I'll fix it for you.
