For a long time this was only the Hauppauge PVR250 and PVR350 cards, but more recently they added this feature to the newest PVR150/500 drivers. I've not heard anything about this feature being present in other devices (like HVR1600 etc).

It embeds the CC info even if the recording software doesn't configure it to?

Correct. It happens automagically behind the scenes in the drivers for the device. GB-PVR doesnt have to do anything to enable this.

I have played with some recording to see how the CC is working and noticed more than I care to that the cc wording often is missing (like whole sentences). Anyone else notice this ?

Mine isn't that perfect either, but with a strong signal it's pretty good. I tried it with the line21 decoder instead of using mpg2srt and the result was the same. I have a feeling the implementation in the hauppauge driver isn't that great.

Yeah, that'd be my guess. In the PVR250/350 its done in hardware. In the PVR150/500 its done in software, and I suspect not perfect yet.

That's a shame. I was hoping all was good. I am surprised Merrypig didn't report that.

Ivan and nonyadb, what are your results?
