Last time I used my VCR was to temporarily jerry-rig it into my PVR so I could capture all my old VHS tapes. I'm sure there's a more elegant solution, but I'm so familiar with GBPVR I figured I might as well use it. It actually works just fine for this by manually recording with a set time-limit. If I know I'm transferring a 4-hour tape, I don't need to wait around to press "stop" lest the file keep growing and growing. Incidentally, "America's Next Top Model" and "Gilmore Girls" are the shows which would result in me losing an appendage should they not be recorded. GBPVR has never disappointed. Cheers, -WG

For my spouse it would have to be:
What Not to Wear Cold Case Files City Confidential Amercian Justice Blood Ties (vampire meets CSI) For me, it would have to be Family Guy The kids are a whole different story.

I do see a problem very infrequently from GBPVR where a recording seems to conflict with itself. If you click on "resolve" it shows the same show twice. Sometimes this results in one succesful recording and one failed (same show) and sometimes with just a failed recording. This is probably my fault too, which is why this isn't in the "support" board. This is the time of year in North America when all the networks will be monkeying with their schedules and screwing up my reocurring recordings. It would be helpful to receive some kind of notification for a weekly or daily reocurring recording that has no upcoming recordings in the next 7 days.

I get the same thing every once in a while with a recording conflicting with itself. Generally what i find is the schedule has changed and zap2it didn't update properly. I'll see the first show set to start at 10:00pm and then the same show in the set to start at 10:02pm. Not a lot i can do about this so I've not worried about it too much since it's not a regular occurrence.
So far it hasn't interfered with my wife's soaps so I'm safe.

House, Two and a half men, Desperate Housewives will all result in death if I fail in my job as keeper of "the TV toys".

Lost
Survivor CSI Close to Home Without a Trace Amazing Race Big Brother Shark And any other reality show that I may be forgetting. Luckily my daughter is only 4 and does not have list of requests yet. My wife is just getting used to the idea of getting rid of the VCR. Right now I only have a desktop tower machine that but I hooked it up a few weekends ago to our living room and recorded a few of my daughters VCR tapes to the hard drive and showed her that they can still be played and her interest peaked up some. I need to get rid of the DVD player and VCR so I can fit a bigger TV in the cabinet.

Arganbright Wrote:Blood Ties (vampire meets CSI)Is this a Canadian Show? It sounds intriguing, however, I just noticed that it's on the "LifeTime" network - that makes me a little nervous, is it a chick show or is it any good? My wife is just getting used to the whole DVR thing, actually, she doesn't use GBPVR, it's my toy. She uses a PVR we got for free when we signed up for Dish Network, but it's still my responsibility if the recordings get messed up  Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy & Lost. Also, of course, the 57 variants of Power Rangers - cause if they don't get recorded we'll both hear about it for hours on end
