Is anyone reliably using streaming or file sharing client playback on a day to day basis with either the old or new version of GB-PVR?
I use streaming with 99.12 - watch/pause live tv and recorded tv with no problem - so it definitely works.

And that's despite the fact that I'm hopeless... Big Grin

I use client/server setup daily with little problem. My bedroom is the client and I have no problem using the streaming option for live tv. I use My Videos plugin for recorded content because it can span multiple drives and display as a single folder so I do not know how watching recorded content is using the default video plugin. I used streaming on the previous releases and the current although I have not tried it using the new PVRX2.exe.

The only problem I have encountered is when the playback does have a problem/lockup on the client and you have to kill gbpvr the server does not free up the tuner. It will continue to record unit you restart the service on the server. Usually happens with the wife and I come home to find a hugh file in the live buffer.

I only use it to record analog s-video so I do not have any experience with digital. Now that you have switched to a different mux is playback fine on the server. I have seen alot have complaints about recording with some muxes. I think it is usually suggested to try cyberlink v5.0.1307 or something. Any way here is a link to differnt versions if needed.http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=1...ostcount=1

Attempt #2.

I completely removed v1.0.8 from the client and server and reinstalled - I keep forgetting to mention that the channel scanning on the new GB-PVR is a bit flakey for DVB-T tuners in the UK, but that will be another post.

Anyway, with minimal config changes, streaming of live TV worked straight away, if a little stuttery for 30 seconds or so then locked up the client application and the recording service on the server had to be restarted before it would tune into anything again. The file sharing method works to a degree in that it doesn't lock up, but the playback on the client is only a few frames per second with broken sound. Exactly what I was seeing with previous version of GB-PVR.

Based on advice on this and other threads I downloaded version 5.0.1307 of the CyberLink mpgmux and registered that on the server and client. BDA MuxChecker reports that only 5.0.1307 is installed. In the config I selected CyberLink on both client and server and reran the re-register filters menu option. Now trying to view live TV using streaming on the client locks up the client and server immediately and using file sharing the client just flicks back to the TV guide after a few seconds without displaying anything.

I think part of my original problem was me - I had assumed that the GB-PVR config screen showed a list of installed muxes; wrong. So me selecting CyberLink on the client wasn't actually doing what I expected and the Micro$oft mux was still being used. But now that I've installed the CyberLink mux I seem to have made things worse.

Any more suggestions before I start playing with other mux versions tonight?

Server hardware:
Intel Core 2 duo @ 2.13GHz, 3GB RAM, Nvidia 8800GTS, Nebula DigiTV PCI DVB-T tuner card + USB slave, Gigabit ethernet between machines.

Client:
Intel Core duo @ 2.16GHz, 2GB RAM, Nvidia 7800GTX, no tuner, Gigabit ethernet.
