Will do - there's nothing on for a while yet - programmes start at 20:00 uk time.

OK, I recorded "Mountain" last night part way in, having watched the first 10 minutes live. There were no audio descriptions whilst I was watching live.

I've just watched the recording, and the audio descriptions are there.

The relevant log from the recording service is attached, not sure if you want any other logs?

Thanks for looking at this sub.

This is odd. Having looked at that log myself, I can see the tuning request for the recording was:

2008-03-18 22:12:01.118 VERBOSE [5] BDARecordingSource about to start recording oid:1 channel:T:10847,V,22000,56~NID:32~ONID:2~TSID:2050~P:6940~V:2327~VTYPE:H264~A:2329~L:NAR~PMT:258~TXT:2330~PCR:2327~N:>BBC HD

Yet I've just looked at this channel in live TV, and the request was:

2008-03-19 11:52:15.990 INFO BDARecorder:::StartRecording(Blackgold BGT3540, 2, , T:10847,V,22000,56~NID:32~ONID:2~TSID:2050~P:6940~V:2327~VTYPE:H264~A:2328~L:NAR~PMT:258~TXT:2330~PCR:2327~N:>BBC HD)
2008-03-19 11:52:15.990 VERBOSE Initializing DVB-S tuning request
2008-03-19 11:52:16.052 VERBOSE SubmitTuningRequest(T:10847,V,22000,56~NID:32~ONID:2~TSID:2050~P:6940~V:2327~VTYPE:H264~A:2328~L:NAR~PMT:258~TXT:2330~PCR:2327~N:>BBC HD)

...so there's the 2329/2328 difference again. Is this something to do with me having two sources defined and I've somehow got them set up differently? I had tweaked the entry in the database from 2329 to 2328 as mentioned in an earlier post, perhaps I need to do that somewhere else as well? That'll teach me to meddle Smile

I think I've answered my own question here - BBC HD appears twice in the source_channel_mapping table, and the audio entries are different. I'll change the second entry and see if that fixes it. I'm assuming there's one entry per source.

I don't know if this of interest but here are the two lines from my scan-1 file.
I use the ac3.

Hmm, useful - thanks. I remember seeing that BBC HD (AC3) but had no idea what it was. What's the difference?

That is the real audio channel. The one you wanted to enabled. The other is the caption version.

This is driving me nuts.
I've been trying to get audio without the damn "audio description" but cannot seem to do so.
I've read this thread and understand that I have two entries for BBC HD, one marked (AC3), but no matter what I do I can't seem to solve the problem.
My scan.cache entries differed from those shown above but even chaning them to match doesn't work.
Could someone (who is certain they are not getting audio descriptions) please post their BBC HD scan lines? Be aware that not all programs have audio captions though.
Could you also post your config.xml? I think there are some BDA entries in there that have an effect - is that right sub?
Am I right in thinking that the the 'info' button on PCH should show audio as AC3? Because in all these attempts it shows MPEG1.
Thanks in advance.

When you use the TS Mux, it'll record all audio streams, and I think I remember reading that BBC HD carries AC3 and MPEG1 audio, so the PCH might be picking the MPEG1 audio channel. There is a button on the remote to switch audio channels.

I was just reading this thread as it got resurrected and was about to say the "audio" button on the PCH remote switches between the 'narrative' descriptions and the plain audio. It defaults to narrative and for me, the plain audio is much quieter than anything else coming out of the PCH
