#1:
The WinTV-HVR-2250 has one antenna input for either cable TV (analog or
clear QAM digital) or for an ATSC antenna.
Since most cable operators have moved the local ATSC channels onto their
cable TV networks, you can pick up these channels via clear QAM.

#2:
There is a splitter on board which drives both tuners.

#3:
The FM is single tuner.

#4:
I need to check. I do not know how this is configured right now.

#5:
No, this is IR receive only. To blast, today we are shipping the Media
Center remote control kit. And yes, the Media Center kit is dual blast.

#7:
this is for OEM use. Many of our OEM customers have Media Center
compatible IR receive/blast through the front panel of their PCs. I think
for the 'retail' market we will remove these connectors so it is not as
confusing.

#8: this is possible but we do not think this is necessary due to the answer
in #1 above.
I reply back on 8 so that we can used both AIR ATSC and QAM at same time.

Thanks SHS for getting this information. It's not quite that cut & dry here in Canada, with the analog cutoff in 2011 and no must-carry rules for locals on QAM, but the US is their real market.

General question on this.....if you are recording ATSC/QAM only....is there any benefit with going with the PCIe based hardware vs. USB 2.0 based HVR-950Q?

I really don't want to have to rebuild my PC to get PCIe if I really don't need to. That is one of the reasons I am still eyeing the HDHomerun.

The 2250 is dual tuner which is the only benefit that I can see. Two 950Qs would take care of that and also give you the ability to use a QAM/OTA mix. The HDHR would give you this ability as well.

I noticed my HVR-950 tends to overheat (after an hour and a half or so) and when that does happen, I experience a lot of stutter. Not sure if the same problem occurs with the newer HVR-950Q.

I have a couple of HDHomeRun's and I'm very happy with them. If you want dual digital-only tuners, then I'd say go buy one HDHomeRun. That's cheaper than buying two HVR-950Q's.

If you don't need dual tuners and have a free PCI slot, then you've got even more options (e.g. Dvico Fusion HDTV7 Cool, Hauppauge HVR-1600, etc).

Today for the first time I'm seeing the 2250 Model 1229 White Box available from other retailers amazon.com $149 and beachaudio.com $125. It looks like they will take an order but have none in stock to ship yet.

It says white box. Does that mean it doesn't have the remote and blaster like the offer from Hauppauge direct?

---
Edit: So I figured it out. There is a model 1229 without the remote or the blasters and a model 1213 with the remote and the blasters. Amazon has them both. Looks like they are still cheaper direct from Hauppauge. I think it may be time for me to bite the bullet and try buying one.

Yeah, but the single coax input for both tuners has turned me off from this possibly great tuner card.

Can anyone suggest a tuner card that has the capabilities of the 2250 but has a separate input for each tuner ( I don't need the worthless FM - I and probably most users have a receiver for their AV system that has FM in it!)?

The problem is that FM is not worthless is just hardly any one is full support it in rigth way and must of dual tv tuner card with an fm tuner only have 1 tuner nor do they record in mp3 and one do it record as MPEG-2 type file or it MCE DRM carp.
The idea is get rig of AV system receiver.
One way is with the MSI Media Live DIVA 5.1 whch has an Internal add-on daughter card which is a 5ch 100watt Power Amplifier which eliminate tons cables and confusion.

http://www.aver.com/mpd/combopcie.html but GBPVR wont know how that the analog and digital are on the same tuner. You would need to set up each tuner as analog or digital, you couldn't use both.

I had a 2250 here a couple days ago, which I intended to use alongside a 1250. Anyone who contemplates this card should understand that it is not as sensitive as a typical, good, ATSC television.

My area, NW of Philadelphia, allows for easy ATSC comparisons, because we have several "DX" stations, as well as stations that are broadcasting ATSC at reduced power with temporary frequencies until the February switchover. I have two antennas in the attic, one a corner reflector UHF only, the other a yagi combo, both with attached preamps.

The deficiency of a 2250 is striking. It can catch all of the analog stations, which are broadcasting on full power, except for WNJT in Trenton, but only a handfull of the weak ATSC transmitters. A Philips TV has no trouble at all.

IMHO, the 2250 will probably be acceptable if you live in an area with very strong transmissions, or for cable (although Comcast customers have reported that the 2250 is weak in this area as well). There certainly is no hope of fringe reception.

I've seen a few reports, from Newegg users and forums, indicating that the 1250 has exceptional sensitivity. From my location the 1250 gets excellent ATSC from Trenton, 30 miles away, and Atlantic City, 60 miles distant.
