Just to see if it was related, I just did a scan which did seem to get further after the patch but still failed with:

AppName: config.exe AppVer: 1.0.3262.27560 AppStamp:0000001c
ModName: psiparser.ax ModVer: 0.1.0.0 ModStamp:4903890b
fDebug: 0 Offset: 00001aa0

This is with the new config.exe patch too.

Yep been viewing sat TV for a few hours now and no crash!
I am flabbergasted that SP3 installs versions known to cause issues with some software, when they already had a fixed version for MCE.
It also explains why I was getting the same kind of crashes on a second PC using a Comro sat card - because after installing windows the first thing I did was install SP3, before anything else. Also explains why all the work - even reinstalling windows - to try and solve the issue did not work, because I always installed the latest updates first...
I think the reason it sometimes worked and sometimes didn't was probably a combination of the file versions and data in the stream - I was reading about psisdecd and tables, all double-Dutch, but was interesting to learn that Robin Hood used Hash!
Anyway this was the only obstacle stopping me from using GBPVR in the main living room. Up till now I always used it in the bedroom / office. Some months ago I installed a quad LNB and ran sat / Cat 6 / and coax externally around the house, and put in a gigabit switch - so nothing stopping me now from taking the plunge - fingers crossed!

Yes, I had started to think you were pressing a 'red button' and remotely causing this issue when the boards were a bit quiet, just for fun - sitting in a white chair like Blowfeld, stroking a white pussy!

I am not so sure it's the patch that cured it.
I just came home from work, installed ADplus and waited for the crash to trigger my memorydump. Didn't happen, I tried several channels from different muxes. I still have BBC news running as I write this. It must have been some change in the DVB streams.
I am glad it's gone, but this is certainly not exactly enlightening with regard to the real cause.

Guido

I am pretty sure it did, I tried immediately before applying it and then immediately after with very different results. However, this issue seems so based on coincidence in my experience that I would not rule it out completely.

My current thinking is that there was/is something in the stream which intermittently causes problems with those XP SP3 files which does not on the patch files. "Not" is fine with me and I have seen no side effects to using the older files so far.Smile

The crash dump was also pretty clear the crash was occuring in psipdecd, so I'm pretty sure an updated version of this dll will be for a fix, even if the stream only sometimes contains the data causing the crash.

Sorry Sub, I thanked Pob but forgot to thank you for looking into the dump in the first place.

My box has been rock solid, in this respect, since the patch and I have been getting the family to hammer it while I am at work.

Mines been great since also - touch wood. I am considering attempting hard acceleration of the HD channels again. Would like to know Dava if you have this particular nut cracked?
Anyway the main floor in the stream theory is that, with over 100 transponders spread over two different satellites (Astra and Eurobird), would a change in the stream happen to all of them at once, as when mine was crashing, it happened on all the channels...

I had crashes on all channels from Astra2 (BBC, ITV, C4 five and some other freesat stuff and sky news). I did not have that problem with muxes on Astra1. I did not update anything on my installation since opening this thread. Monday night, the crashing problem was gone without further intervention. It sounds weird, but that's how it is.

But I too want to thank sub for his support.

This happens to both of my installs every now and then. I'm wondering if Windows update or driver changes keeps over-writing files?? Applying the mce-nova patch always fixes it for me. There is obviously some update somewhere that has caused all of our systems (including both of mine) to do this.
