Picture but no sound for Freeview NZ

under advanced codec i see:
h.264 decoder: ffdshow video decoder
aac decoder: monogram aac decoder
he-aac decoder: monogram aac decoder

the settings for h.264 show all the settings for ffdshow and I can't find anything to turn hardware decoding on or off.
the settings for monogram just show an about box with some info for stream properties which all say unknown.

which one should i be looking at to check if hardware decoding is on?

I use the cyberlink powerdvd one as that supports hardware decoding. I don't think ffdshow does

Audio Renderer: SPDIF Out (Creative SB Audigy 2)
h.264 decoder to CyberLink H.264/AVC Decoder (PCM45)
aac decoder: monogram aac decoder
he-aac decoder: monogram aac decoder

Now there are no ffdshow icons in the tray and the sound is slightly better.
cpu usage is still about the same.

Could I be missing some better audio decoders?

so are you still getting stutter?

and is it on all channels? what about c4, tvnz6? if you get stutter on those then that might point to aerial. As they are not HD

Yes, still getting stutter. tv3 is best, c4 & tvnz6 are also watchable.

Have upgraded to 2Gb ram with no difference.

I think I've ruled out the aerial. I checked power cinema again (which came with the nova t 500 card) and the picture and sound is perfect on all channels. I don't use power cinema because after you click the tv button it takes 8 to 10 minutes for the channel to play. Seems slightly more useable with the 2gb ram.
When it does finally play the cpu runs at about 20%. Not 60 to 80% like in GBPVR.

Does this point towards decoders?

Strange you find tv3 the worst. As it's the hardest for a computer to deal with.

What decoder are you using again, and what video card? Looks like power cinema is using hardware decoding, but maybe that decoder is not accessible to gbpvr.

tv3 has the best sound, not the worst.
I'm using cyberlink for video & audio decoders, audio renderer & h.264 decoer. AC3 decoder is AC3Filter. AAC & HE-AAC decders are monogram.
video card is gigabyte 9400 gt (gv-n94t-512h)

I can see a use hardware acceleration option in cyberlink video decoder options and it's ticked.

What video renderer are you using, and are you xp or vista?

video renderer is currently EVR. Seems to be slightly better than VRM9 Custom & VRM9 Fullscreen Exclusive.
Using vista home premium mce 32 bit with sp1

EVR on Vista should give you hardware acceleration, but from the reported 60-80% CPU usage, its clearly not.

I seem to remember that some versions of the Cyberlink H.264 decoder dont have hardware acceleration enabled by default and needed registry settings to enable them. Try a forum search to find thread discussing this.
