I've managed to get it good. Apart from if I skip around a recording it can go shimmery/tearing until I pause and play a few times. I guess this is a codec thing - so planning to try some others out.

I guess this is in the config.exe list as "ATI Video Decoder", is there a corresponding audio codec aswell? (for MPEG playback)

OMG that is one heck of a thread. The guides look like they're written by someone 'in the know'. I'm currently trying out the 'intermediate one' (although I've just read that it means intermediate hardware requirements not intermediate difficulty level Rolleyes )

Are you a ffdshow guru? I just wonder how specific some of these settings are to the writer's setup? As in does ATI, Win XP, CCC settings make a difference here...?

McBainUK:

Hi.
Did you try SAF already?
If you have only SD (MPEG2) available, SAF should satisfy all your GB-PVR needs Smile

BTW: if you have ICQ, you can contact me on ICQ #85476027.

Yes. But had many problems:
1. No OSD
2. No aspect ratio change (F7)
3. Crash on stop of LiveTV (goes back to GB-PPVR but video window still shown)
4. Lipsync off

All this problems with SAF? Becouse i have none of this.

1) - you have XP right? Did you use VMR9 exclusive?
2) - not sure, no preblem on my setup
3) - please, when using SAF connect graphstudio and post graph - i bet you have different filters in use then SAF ones (i can fix that in future SAF release, but i need more info)
4) - you mean tearing? On XP you need to use VMR9 + VSync on

I am developing SAF basicaly for my personal use, and i am really happy how it works under GB-PVR (currenty using analog TV, i have no acces to DVB-t).

You can see some pictures in my signature HTPC link.

1 - XP SP3, VMR9 FSE
4 - I mean audio and video are out of sync
2/3 - Currently trialling ffdshow. If I go back to SAF I'll do some more testing for you.

Unfortunately i am no expert in FFdshow and just used the settings in the thread.

I did find under the advanced section settings about deinterlacing that helped out a lot and fixed many of my problems (keep in mind this is vista for me though, i didnt test with XP) and found this to be partuicularly helpful

"The output in ffdshow needs to be nv12 for my ati video card, and yuy2 for my intel integrated video card. Only select one depending on which one you need, don't select any other colorspace"

make sure only on of these is selected, good luck i feel your pain as this took me a month to figure out
