Reading the Spotify terms of use, it seems you can't use the word "Spotify" in your product name.

So does that mean it would have to be called "Spot GB-PVR" or something equally? Does this extend to the name on the GB-PVR main menu - is it against the terms to have it display "Spotify" here...?

I seem to remember NetFlix had something similar in their terms - what was the outcome of that?

It sounds really great to get a plugin, and if it works with NMT that would be perfect. I have been using Spotify for about a month and am also hooked.

Unfortunatly I have no info on the legal terms...

I will say upfront that playback on MVP/NMT using the Spotify plugin as I currently see it will be unlikely. Although I have an MVP so it would be a "nice to have" and something I would want to look at in the future.

OK, then it isn't that interesting for me as I only use GB-PVR with the NMT. But I guess most use it on the computer and then it might be nice, but hten again you have the original software at hand which you do not have on the NMT. Have never tried GB-PVR with a computer, have always had an MVP and now an NMT as the front-end.

The idea is the plugin would allow you to use Spotify through the GB-PVR interface without the need for a keyboard and mouse.

OK, that makes sense. I have never used the computer in the livingroom and with a remote so I don't think that way :-)

Best of luck developing, I will keep an eye on the development just case :-)

McBainUK, not sure I see the issue with the name? I mean its up to each user to change it in the skin if your not happy with it. Thats how I have done it in the past with other plugins.

About the plugin, I would also like to see support for the NMT, but that could always be looked at later Smile

Good Luck McBainUK,

The name shown on the plugin screen can be set in the skin but the text on the button in the main menu is set in code. If this is "Spotify" will I be breaking the API terms - this is what I don't know.

Well, I am not sure how to interpret that legal term.

They are talking about "register trademark". But to be on the safe side I would suggest some other name for it. It may be possible to name the plugin to one thing and show something else to the user...

Otherwise, Respotify could be a nice name (but that could be forbidden as well).
