seems like a simple fix, you'd thin the program would know better..
why i won't use dreamweaver even tho professionals swear by it..

My partner uses Dreamweaver, I use NotePad++ myself.

I think it looks great. How about we switch to it when 1.5.x is ready?

It seems like my changes are working for everyone so I'll get them back to Hairy and leave the launch to you guys.

Can I ask, was it obvious to you that the tab content <div class="panes"> needed to be located in the <div id="content_body">, or was it trial and error? Only I just don't get how you guys do this coding thing. I upped this a couple of days ago, to the free hosting, and half the images wouldn't render. That led to several days of sheer frustration trying to get it to work, until I discovered the difference between .jpg and .JPG. I mean come on!!!, the whole layout falls apart because of that.....arrgggh bloody code.

I will say that I was mindful of using elements that expressly supported IE6+, but from what I've read I was more hopeful than confident.

Thank you so much for going over it, as you can imagine I may have never twigged that one. I spent last night thinking how I could strip out the java script and still keep any of the design.

What ever works best for you. I'll incorporate whurlston's fix and keep tweaking the graphics and content until the release.

Oh, I can also tweak any screenshots if needed for all the new eye candy *wink wink*.

Now that it looks like everything is working technically, the only thing left is the content.

If people are happy enough with the text for "features" and "Community" (although I'd still like to hear from people on spelling, grammer and the general flow). The last one would be "About", I was just thinking of something simple here. I think it's significant that it's a single developer doing this, and the webpage is probably more for people who don't know anything about gb.

So from memory the history is something like - started around 2003/04 - tried other packages around at the time and none really hit the mark , so sub wrote his own - decided to share that for free with everyone and it snowballed from there. ?????

we could also probably add a paypal donate button in there too. ?????

Works for me, I'm not creative enough to come up with the designs but I can definitely debug code.

It wasn't obvious at first but I added "border: solid red 1px;" to each section so I could graphically see the layout and that's when I realized that it was in the top section and being hidden by the main part. Of course, this only occured in IE7 and lower. In IE8/Firefox, the div sizes adjust automatically. Once I had that figured out, I was able to see the height/margin of main section was a little off, so it was just a matter of tweaking till I found the right values. There is a little more space at the bottom now but I had to add it so that the screenshot reflections did not get cut off in IE7 and lower.

Just so you know, this is only an issue when hosting on linux/mac servers (like epgtools). If it were on a Windows server (like oshinetworks), it's case insensitive and would have worked either way.

Nah, you did great. I fix much more complicated issues on a regular basis. If you hadn't been mindful, it wouldn't have been near as easy to fix because one little change (like what I did) could have messed up something else.

I wouldn't worry about it. That javascript is pretty well optimized and you would be hard pressed to replicate any of it with html that would be as efficient. Even using php it probably wouldn't be as efficient.

I thought about this kind of stuff when I was designing the layout, but space is limited (to keep the vertical resolution low). There are lots of excellent plugins and addons for gb and although the CS does lend itself really well to the light box screenshot effect, I didn't think it was right to favour any one addon over the others - especially given my involvement with CS

On a different note:

I'm still looking for some info for the last panel "About", I don't mind writing it. I'd appreciate a little background on how and why gbpvr started - did it even start back as far as 2002?

My own opinion is that the images should represent gb-pvr as it is "out of the box" and not include 3rd party plugins and skins. This is sub's project after all, and showing custom images may lead to confusion as to what is to be expected.
