Edit: Pbs could you tell us where you found the 8.11 drivers I don't know where I got them, installed at one time in the process.

I've tried to register for an account also having problems with sleep mode in windows 7 with 785g 790gx chipsets. But it won't let me create an account says password needs special characters.

We should report these problems to them and vent LOL

Edit 2: I had to shutdown the machine completely after installing a new driver. Turn the power supply off and wait a minute or two. Seems the drivers write something to the card that stays when minimum power is supplied to the motherboard. This might just be my motherboard.

if you got the one with remote it may have been the usb port...[they stay powered on restarts]
not sure where you're logging into, but the cdrom drivers were the ticket..both vista and xp 8.11 [same as you were running]
i thought maybe power options were only difference between vista and win7, but mine sleeps fine with vista drv in 7....
i wouldn't bother trying to upgrade drivers, they won't add anything for old cards..

i just didn't know we could use the vista one for win7 or i woulda had a much shorter time of this...Big Grin

I'm just using the default codec. What operating system are you using? What motherboard and chipset. What video card. I've tried the ati mpeg codec, ATI theater needs to be installed I think to use the ati mpeg codec. But now I can't uninstall it. But I would suspect your pcie bus if your using the pcie card. Are you running sli or crossfire. They could be using all the pcie bandwidth.

I also have the k-lite codec pack installed

Second card sometimes I get this message but when I retry it it works for viewing. I might try loading the latest driver for this card since I'm only using one channel on it at the moment. I wondering if recording will have the same problem and fail intermittently.

loading the driver for one card loads it for both...i'd check signal strength, assuming you've split it alot..
if you choke the hard drive it'll also have problems looking like signal..

i'm using a hd3450 w/ a e2140 [core2 1.6ghz] on XP
ati avivo codec is just one file, either atimpenc.dll or atidvcr.dll dpending on what ver cat you have installed...unregister the file and it's gone..[use gspot to tell you it's path] it's not used by the theater card, unless you use the mpeg mux to save with..
8.11 theater drv came from diamond cd..it has avivo codec in it too
i've got pcie card also..seems to be the only dual tuner one they make..

i'm using cat 8.11 for video card as well as theater card in xp, tho i wouldn't recommend this combo with other series cards or vista..just hd3xxx in xp..
latest video card drvs works properly in vista and with newer cards..[cat 10.1]

I have a hd 4870 vid and 3.6ghz quad amd 3 samsung drives in raid 0. Pretty fast, but like you said if I enter task manager sometimes I lose the video feed. I am splitting the cable for QAM. I just record off of atsc mostly and watch qam channels, most are the same except I get OPB off of qam and would like to record Nova now and then.

Funny thing is sometimes on nova I get no audio. No telling what Comcast is doing.

I pretty happy now I have left gb-pvr running all day and no crashes.

I BACK UP MY GB-PVR REGULARLY, I'VE SCREWED UP THE CONFIG.XML FILE MORE THAN ONCE Smile

Does anyone else have a video brightness difference between Digital and Analog. I had to set all the analog parameters manually. Have it fairly decent now. But took time messing with them.

I completely reloaded windows 7 x64. I had some garbage, corruption. Loaded to many codecs ect... I downloaded the 650 pcie card drivers from Visionteks website and they are dated 9/23/2008 6.14.10.314 and they work.

that would make it cat ver 8.09 so the diamond 8.11 drivers [nov-08] are actually newer..[and work also]
[first digit is year, after is month]
hence 10.1 is jan 2010

Pbs what drivers are you using since I reinstalled sometimes I get snow here and there on the analog channels. If I exit watching and click watch again it is ok, sometimes I have to do this a couple of times.

I found the problem with the snow issue in windows 7 x64. I had driver version 6.14.10.314. I downloaded older drivers 6.14.10.283 and it fixed the problem. It also fixed restarting the recording service where sometimes things would lock up. I got both drivers off of diamonds and visiontek's website but not sure which one had which. I think visiontek had the 283 drivers.

Edit with 283 drivers the brightness difference between atsc and analog is back.
