nPVR and DVD playback using FFDshow Audio and Video decoder = black screen

I suspect it was more a case of lots of workarounds added to make it work with buggy decoders.

I would not call FFDshow "buggy"...

Look, only software right now where it is not working is nPVR for me, even GB-PVR works: (so what is difference between GB-PVR and nPVR?)


And MePo: (most of thier DVD player problems was caused by thier EVR renderer)

Ok, "buggy" might be a bit strong - but we need a word to describe the fact it is not a drop in replacement for other decoders that work fine, and instead needs to be treated differently. "quirks" might be a more appropriate word.

OK, i think i will give it up to make nPVR working and stay on GB-PVR...

Last think - maybe you can look in to MPC-HC sources how they build trier DVD graph.

Hey, i make it working... I think i found source of problem.
nPVR add EVR renderer but graph will connect to prefered renderer isntead of one added by nPVR like on first picture i posted:

it is working but only for nv12, must uncheck all other colorspaces or they will get used and display only black..
ffdshow connects to any renderer it can find if preferred one isn't available..
much like mpc 264 decoder with xp evr...it adds a vmr9 renderer and connects with that...cuz it can't connect to evr in xp..
at least in my experience..

That is not important right now... question is why prefered renderer is used (with higest merit) instead of defined in nPVR.
BTW, i can use all colorspaces, YUY2, YVYU, UYVY, NV12 - all working. This is mostly limitation of you GPU or drivers. Intel GPUs are realy bad on this side - i have Intel GMA X4500HD on MoBo, but this GPU (drivers) are to buggy, so it was replaced by ATI 5450 - no problem since then.

BTW, as you can see, it is working with more then NV12 colorspace (YUY2 is in use)
